Never spent a day off of the bike, since my 17th birthday. Rode my XR125 last year in the snow, and still ride my sv 650s in all weathers. Although people think your slightly nuts, it is my only transport and always will be :)

Am i the only one here who went to uni on a 125, my honda cg is lovely little bike and despite the thin road tyres i still got there and back safely, try stay off back roads tho was the main concern.

Ride my 92 blade everyday - have no choice it is my only transport - the rain and snow sure helps you to get a feel for the bike so that when the sun shines your riding circles around other riders.

I rode 20 miles to Basingstoke on my SV 650s. The motorway (M3) was okay – normal speeds could be reached ;) but on the back roads the rear wheel was just spinning and then eventually reached the tarmac under the ice and snow and would throw you forwards if you were not quick with the clutch! To stay upright you basically have to drag your feet on either side like skies and just keep moving.

Car drivers look at you like your nuts! To be honest it is fairly stupid and I would not be doing it if I had a car. The salt and grit on the roads is not too good for the bike either so my advice would be stay off the bikes unless you have a machine for the job and really know what you’re doing! Ride safe.

Get your self an old nail for winter and have some fun. I've had my old rat bike for years and was looking forward to some proper snow.

Its all right if you have a dirt bike and know how to handle it, but I wouldn't encourage anyone to ride in the snow on a road bike.
There's a limit to what's safe and I don't think MCN should be encouraging bikers to throw themselves down the road by taking unsuitable machinery in these conditions.
