    I would echo the other comments, and add these thoughts. I see very little point in reading a novel which is going to be told almost entirely in flashbacks as I already know how it ends, and unless I really really care about the character, I'm not going to care how he came to that end. That's one. Also, although something happened (ie, he was killed), really, nothing happened. And I don't believe that his wife was crazy just because you said so. This is a whole lot of telling rather than showing.

    The "Oh, poor me. White men are so picked on." was such a total turnoff I wouldn't have continued reading on a bet. Writing fiction with an AGENDA makes bad writing pretty much 100% of the time (from either side of the gender divide).

    Get over being mad at women and write a story instead.

    The bitter diatribe about the ex did me in. Unfortunately I know many guys who tell a similar story IRL, and this one made my just as uncomfortable. I've also learned that a story like that *always always always* has two sides.

    Yep, I can't get into bitter, especially on the first page before I even know the guy.
