I submitted "I want a rose tat on my breast so when I am 90 it will be a long stem rose. I guess it was too risque.
I am in agreement, all entries should be posted that follow the contest rules. Also, it should be easier to get to. Thank you for this forum for the readers to give a response. Thank you also for you magazine, I do look forward to it on Sundays!
When your paper gives a web address, post a BIG button that clearly says CARTOON CAPTION. I kept clicking options and finally gave up the first time I tried to enter. From reading your list of comments I am not the first to feel frustrated at your site.
Please put the current picture up on the "leave comment" option. It took me three times looking to where to vote to find it. Also, a cut off date on the comic would help get responsed in time. My suggestion for the current comic, which I think is very funny--I couldn't post; which is: I want "Woodstock Forever" as a tramp stamp, and I want the Senior Citizen discount".... You decide!!!
I missed the contest entirely, but wanted mine to say...

My husband's suggestion would have been: "Can you do my arms to look like sleeves to match my new dress?" But, we were too late!
My submission was "I want a tat of my name and address before I get alzheimers". I guess they don't like dark humor...
I think you suould, if possible, publish all of the submissions and have the readers choose the top 10. I'm not so crazy about any of the top 10 you chose. I submitted.."Son, your father sent me, he wants the money he spent on Harvard back."
My captions was similar to Mike's, "Where's the heart with Mom in it?" At least we thought it was funny.
Could not get in on time to submit mine since you changed the website format. I agree some of the top ten are not funny at all. I like the ones in the comments better most of the time. Mine would have been; "All I'm saying Junior, would it have hurt to have one little heart with MOM in it?
Hey Parade guys, comments are running about 10 to 1 against your cartoon contest picking skills. Maybe you should take President Obama's advice and see it is time for some real change.
#1. The DATES need to appear in PARADE saying when the expiration date is. #2. Much better communications on the web site saying, "Submit a Funny Caption! Here". #3. How many people actually choose the final 10? #4. I agree with most of the other comments as of today . . . . these are not good captions . . . . #4. We hope you make some improvements on the above listed suggestions. #5. I didn't want to vote for any of them. I actually think you took the first 10 entries! Mike . . . .

I was disappointed that my caption wasn't selected,too; but the judges do have a dilemma with entries that are almost worded the same. Margo Bennett's caption was almost word-to-word exactly like my entry. Hey Margo, I liked your caption!
I was really disappointed to see only 10 to choose from. Obviously, everyone prefers their own wit, but who voted to choose these 10? I submitted a caption. I was disappointed the rules only allow one caption submission. I had 2. I can't say I like any of the final 10. Let the people vote!! Or, at least let us be able to see all those which are submitted!

All the deadlines are in the official rules.. but I do agree they should probably post it NICE AND BIG for the people that don't like to read.
Ditto on all the criticisms and comments above. My personal favorites from the ones and which are funnier than the "official" top ten list:
"Do you have it in Lavender to match my hair?)"
"I wanna get something I'm not gonna regret"
"Dr. would you please write a note that there is nothing wrong with my vision so I can get it to the DMV!"
And, of course, I still chuckle at my own entry that missed the top ten list: "Sid was not enthused over tattooing Mrs. Bernstein's deceased Pomeranian, Sparky, on her upper thighs."
We still think mine is better than the top ten..."I want a tattoo that looks just like this dress." still makes me laugh.
Missed the deadline. Mine were: "I want this job for the challenge. I'm bored with painting watercolor still lifes." OR "My memory's not what it was. So, I'd like it to remind me ... Oh my, I've seemed to have forgotten."

I didn't get my caption in on time but

Oh, I don't know ..........but some that captures the real me.
I can't believe I did not get chosen. Compared to the ones that got pick mine was alot more funnier. I get the judges do not have a sense of humor. They must be real stupid.
These are all lame I should had been on the top 10 because mine was the best from all of you people okay then goodbye.

By the way, all of the top ten entries sound lame compared to those in the comments. Pick up your feet. Get moving. This means you, Parade Magazine.

I'm mad at myself that I missed the window. But my caption is "In this purse is my life savings. I need you to remove this floral gingham dress body tattoo."
I agree with many of the comments. While I was naturally partial to my own submission ("I need something that matches this purse"), you picked some pretty good finalists. I really liked Rick Alley's "peace and quiet" line.
I wish there were a place to view ALL submissions so that readers could judge the quality of your finalists. Also, it would be nice to know the total number of submissions you received. Not being in the top 10 when there are 4,937 submissions is different from being 11th of 11.
Finally, the site is a bit hard to navigate. Even after going to the site listed in Parade Magazine, it took some time to find the caption contest. You could do much better in this area.
Oh, well. This was my first try and I had fun with it. I'll be back!

My caption would have read: "Son, why couldn't you be an engineer like your older sister or a CPA like your younger brother?"
I agree with several of your other commentors, publish all the entries, and make it easier to enter. Also show a deadline. I was disappointed mine wasn't there, (Do you have it in Lavender to match my hair?)
Why don't you print all that entered? I entered with "You want to put it Where?' Also, you shold have dates on the deadline and make it easier to get to. Your magazine can be hard to figure out.

Why not post ALL of the entries you receive??? Like Maria, I'm not bitter or anything, but I feel a sudden urge to set my Parade magazine on fire now that my entry wasn't even listed.

It would have been very helpful if you'd have printed the deadline for submissions in the magazine. I wanted to submit one: "I need to spice up my love life. Can you give me a 'Gramp Stamp?'" Since the current entries have so few votes, will you accept a late submission? Thanks.

Why not tell readers when to submit entries by?
I submitted about 7 entries and was disappointed to not see mine up there but after reading them; the majority of the semi-final winners are MUCH funnier than any of mine! Kudos to whoever picked these to vote on!
