CBS has completely lost their minds taking something so important as Guiding Light off the air. I have watched this show my whole 26 years and my mother has also watched the show as long as she can remember. Reva and Josh and the rest of the clan has become part of our lives and people whom we can relate to and I think it is an imposterous act to cancel the show. You really need to reconsider leaving it on the air we can do without the price is right besides its no longer entertaining without Bob Barker anyways. Another reminder, so many people are quick not to watch CBS anymore if you follow through with taking our favorite daytime show off the air. Thanks for the time and once again in order to keep your ratings up you should deffinitely reconsider.

I would watch it if you did continue it online, but why can't you put it on Soapnet?

I have been watching GL since I was 13 years old and now I'm 53, life isn't going to be the same with GL, I will miss it.

I want to say Thanks to all of the cast members of GL, you all have done an great job !!!

I like CBS personally, but I do not understand why the show is canceling. I will follow Guiding Light wherever it goes. Please someone out there sign a contract or something. I have watched faithfully for 16 years. I have cable because of Daytime Drama, and I also have a DVR box to be able to record Guiding Light when I am not at home. I hope someone decides to save The Light. It is an interesting show. I do not know how I am going to feel about dedicating 16 years of watching this and then it just diappears.

I cannot believe CBS is cancelling GL. I have watched this for 40 years. My grandma and mother had watched this also. I love the whole cast, it's almost as if they are family, GL is not your typical soaper. Reva, Josh, Billy, Vannessa, Matt, Jonathon has been an excellent character and what an actor, Him and Reva together what a pair! Phillip, Alan, Ed and Rick, I will always remember the Bauer BBQ! What family traditions they established. Holly, Blake, Frank, Harley, Buz, Cooper, couldn't believe Ross is gone after all those years and what you did with Gus. Dinah, Beth and her mother, Alan's sister, all of them. What a shame, I hope these actors realize how they have been part of everyone's lives for all these years and I know I am forgetting so many more that have been there from day one. I hope they are reading this for they have been part of my family's growing up with love, laughter and heartbreaks. What a shame.

I have been watching GL for 35 years. When I first heard they were cancelling it, I was very upset. However, lately the show doesn't seem to be getting any better. I'm sick of Bill and Lizzie. I don't like the Olivia/Natalia storyline at all! It's just the same old crap over and over.
I say fire the stinkin' writers, go back to the old format, and get some new storylines. For one, bring back Jonathan!!! And do they really expect us to believe that James Spaulding is already grown? PULEASE!
I never thought I'd say it, but As the World Turns is quickly becoming my new favorite. I will always miss the good old days of GL with Roger Thorpe, Holly, Ed Bauer, etc.....
If the writers can't do any better than what they have been in the last year, then I say R.I.P my beloved Guiding Light!

My family all love watching Guiding Light. I hope CBS will see what a huge mistake they have made. I wonder if there would be polls, surveys, blogs, phone calls, letters, etc. written to save Deal or No Deal, which CBS airs several times a day, or Bosley Hair infomercials... I mean just look at their daytime lineup other than the soaps. Come on, who is in charge at CBS? What a terrible decision. I believe TeleNext and P&G have the business sense to try and save GL in spite of CBS's terrible mistake. I will follow Guiding Light away from CBS, where ever TeleNext and P&G can find a home for it. Thanks TeleNext and P&G for trying to save our show.

First I'd sincerely like to thank the cast, crew and producers of Guiding Light for the selfless work they did in our area post-Katrina...didn't see B&B or Y&R down here. If the network promoted GL as much as they do the LA shows they might pick up that powerful "demographic" they're looking for!! The writing and location shoots are getting better every week. Guiding Light has been a family affair for us for over 50 years...my 80 year old mother used to listen to it on the radio! It would be nice if the network showed alittle more loyalty to their older veiwers...we might watch less cable TV! Remember we 40 and 50 something's are the ones with the disposable incomes in this economy!!!!!

CBS, you have GOT TO BE KIDDING!!!! This is YOUR longest running show. Help them, don't shoot them in the foot. Think about the fortune they have brought to you. Time to be selfless and return the good fortune (DOLLARS, OF COURSE). You will not only disappoint the viewers who are hanging in there with loyalty to this series, but you will lose many of us to your station in its ENTIRETY. Look at the BIG picture!

    Virginia,
I feel the same way you do. I love guiding Light. No I am not crazy about lesbian love between natalia and olivia, other than that it is a great show. My husband and I watch every day. Please reconsider cbs on leaving guiding light on. Now that Phillip is back things are getting good again. Give them a chance to rekindle the show. Please reconsider.

Since I retired I have become very involved w/the characters of Guiding Light. The new lesbian turn does not "thrill" me but since the other shows are following this story line, guess it is considered necessary, All in all I consider it a really good show and something to which I look forward to each day. PLEASE TO THE POWERS WHO MAKE THE DECISIONS..PLEASE..RECONSIDER!!!!!!

  • G G - 15 years ago

Are you kidding?! Now that it's your platform for lesbian love stories. NO WAY! That's just gross. RIP Guiding Light.
