Or, if you're really a metadata sucker, let each developer have his/her own database, but make each developer document every specification as they deploy it to their databases. Might make them beg for a true project manager, and not a weasel who gets 125K a year to play with MS Project and work on his/her PMP all day.

the only reason i answered other is that i have seen good reasons to have both types (centralized and individual)...
