On a scale of 1-5, with 5 being best, how would you rate NO LINE ON THE HORIZON?

Boy was a stinker? To my ear, there is nothing on No Line as good as Electric Co. Is Boy a masterpiece? Probably not. But there is far more earnestness, energy, and seeking on Boy than on No Line. No Line sounds like 4 guys trying to SOUND earnest, but it just doesnt sound genuine to me. It sounds too planned and forced.

  • CanopyofDreams - 15 years ago

I like the album and my favorite songs are the ones that get the most criticism "Get on Your Boots" and "Stand Up Comedy". To me, the only crime commited here is that they took a brief detour from sounding so much like themselves all the time.

This is the sound of a usually self-righteous band having a little fun. Connecting from a spiritual place is fine and dandy, but it is tiresome in both songwriting and in critique to expect it all the time. On that note, some songs do come from a spiritual place. "No Line", Magnificent", and "Fez" are great. "Unknown Caller" was a great idea, but compromised a bit with the excessive chants. It's not their very best of all time, but it is an awesome album. And it is nowhere nere being the stinker of an album that "Boy", "October" and "Rattle and Hum" were.

"Winter" - wow, what an awesome track.

  • Desertsky - 15 years ago

As a follow up to my previous post, I feel there was a definite shift during Pop into All That You Cant leave. As the band matured with family, age, and money- the band muse vs the individual muse started to have more effect, which is normal. The album cover for the vinyl edition and cd cover for NOLINE (art direction) is the best since Achtung. I remember buying albums- what a lost art! I'm looking forward to the tour and their future work, esp. "Songs of Ascent". They have quite an operation going and their balance on the highwire is still strong as they- "Take me to another place".

  • Desertsky - 15 years ago

U2 will always rock. War, Unforgettable, J. Tree/Rattle, and Achtung were absolute pieces of Rock n Roll art. The record industry changed a lot after 91' and the "album" really ceased to exist after that. From around 93-09 U2 have put out some amazing songs- "New York" being a masterpiece in my book and several more- "Electrical Storm" - etc. , Pop sounds amazing now - As U2 moved forward their albums were not as "on time" but after a few years really acheived life like a good vintage wine. NOLINE continues this tradition. That does not take away from the band at all, it's just how music tended to be marketed. I feel if they were to throw out their laptops and go with more of a raw tragectory (guts and glory)... Can't wait to see the set list for this tour. The "Claw" looks like a rocket pad- the U2 I love- a beacon of power and transcendence.

I sure hope they play a lot from No Line on the Horizon. I am sick and tired of their old workhorse songs that have been beaten death live yet canonized by the faithful. I think the new album is amazing and will be more so live. If I have to listen to the recycled Joshua Tree songs again to the exclusion of taking some chances I'm going to throw up. Tired of the Joshua Tree. In with the new.

  • Wowshers - 15 years ago

The reaction to the album is mixed with a bunch of folks that prefer their other stuff, but there quite a lot of people like the album too. Given the size and the variety of the fan base...it is a virtual guaruntee that reaction will be mixed to whatever they put out no matter what comes out. The people that love "No Line" may very well hate the next album if it sounds like what this album's naysayers want. No matter what they do, people are going to love and hate it. That comes with the territory since they came from left or right field several times and picked up a few new fans along the way each time. Different people attached to different things,

  • FuTongBomb - 15 years ago

Wow Sammy...I guess you and I are on the opposite ends of the preference spectrum...I prefer more Eno and less Larry. I like the Passengers stuff and the 90's stuff....their "Larry" stuff (I see him as the band's most disposable member) does nothing for me. New album songs will be amazing live.

  • al - 15 years ago

To me, U2 is about something that connects you in an emotional and spiritual place. That can can be on a lone listen on your headphones but it's essential in an arena with 20,000 people sharing the sames experience. I don't hear much on "No Line" that get either to that place. There are some creative new Edge sounds folded into various songs. I like the moxie of "Get on Your Boots" and "Breath" is a fun new twist. There just is not much on this disk that will gives me goosebumps.
Someone makes a post earlier in this log that the artistic U2 does not care if the masses don't appreciate their art. That is a someone who really does not know this band. U2 has, is, and will always be about inspiring the masses. They will never be the pouting, selfish artists set about to satisfy only themselves and glad if others happen to join.
I think they missed with "No Line" but I love them all the same and there will be great stuff from them for years to come.

  • Sammy - 15 years ago

I'm a big u2 fan for many years and it pains me to say this but I do not like this album and place it down in the "Passengers" arena. There are 3 songs I really like (White As Snow, Breath, and Boots) and a couple others that are OK but the rest just feels like a lot of garbage to me. Ouch! it hurts to see that in print. I guess I just expect more from this band who has been so good for so long. Too much Brian Eno and too little Larry for me.

  • mike maxwell - 15 years ago

I am very disappointed with HLOTH. I generally don't like new U2 material at first listen but then I fall in love after a few listens That is not the cast with NLOTH. As a huge U2 fan, there are really only 4 songs that I find even listenable and only 2 that I have put into my iPod favorites. It really has the feel of something that is severely overproduced and some of it is just painful to listen to - - so I have given up trying.

I paid $50 for my @U2 subscription upgrade which included the "Medium, Rare, and & Remastered" CD's and I find those are a much better collection than NHOTH. I would LOVE to hear "Xanax And Wine" and "Big Girls Are Best" live!

I'm not sure what U2 was trying to do with NLOTH but it did not work for me at all and judging by the reception of the public (or lack thereof), I have a lot of company in that opinion.

The tour will be fantastic - - that is where U2 always shines. I just personally hope that there is not a lot of NLOTH played.

  • Ebo - 15 years ago

If truth be told,i have to say that this album has'nt given me the shiver up the back of my neck like previous albums have. I'm not saying i don't like it,i do there just isn't a song that stands out for me.Edge said in an interview that they will be playing a lot of the new album on the tour, apart from the songs released as singles i personally can't guess which ones they're going to play because there is no big stadium anthems in there like streets, the fly, beautiful day, even on atomic bomb you had at least 3 big ones in vertigo, blinding lights and love and peace or else.I don't want to put any bad vibes out there folks so i'm sorry if that sounded all to negative,we all know u2 are the best there is when they're live on stage and no doubt they will have me bouncing again just like they always have since i first saw the zoo tv shows in '93.Glasgow august 18th here we come! Take care folks, keep swinging to the music!

  • NBCZK - 15 years ago

WIK73 - That's really funny. I feel exactly the opposite as you. I really like those songs you hate, and don't care for the songs you like. I rate the album about a 3. I really was expecting more. As I read the posts it amazes me how different people's tastes are. This albumn seemed to touch on both sides of peoples tastes. Just to compare, my all time favorite are songs like Bad, Streets, Kite, Exit, All I want, to name a few. We will see over time how this album "sticks". I feel that it just didn't cut the top 5 for me.

  • angelo - 15 years ago

I like the artistic U2 from the very beginning , Boy to Pop than they went back to basics with ATYCLB which is ok but they did again with their follow up LP. Although HTDAOB has some great songs , it was to similar to the last one. NLOTH is breathe of fresh air, GREAT album , great tracks. It has a more alternative indie sound to it. U2 was never a rock band. they create sonic sounds that classic rock lovers can not relate to. Very impresive for a group of their age. This one is up there with Achtung Baby, Joshua Tree. 5/5

  • John Lambert - 15 years ago

I think that the expectations sometimes are unrealistic and that a fan community should just settle in and take the artistic offering for what it is when it comes. People are fans of something and then they expect the second coming of Christ (whatever that may be in their minds...) and then they miss the boat for whatever honest place and artist may be coming from at the time. As always...there is one thing that can be counted on, live performance gives an artistic offering new life and today's objects of skepticism are tomorrow's classics. I have noticed a trend among fan communities of just about any artist or band or movie series or tv show that has been around a long time...there is a general tendency among fans to try and hold that artist to the first impressions that the artist captured them with in the beginning. That can never be. Artists are not trapped inside the angst ridden teenage bodies that brought them to the dance forever. They move on, and so does the music. That being said, I like the maturation among this band's music. This last album is no exception for me

  • JBCon - 15 years ago

Absolutely 5 stars. A few songs took a while for me to get into but once I did I fell for them big time. There's not a weak point in the entire album and I Love how diverse it gets. Maybe not their best album but top 2 or 3 for sure. Although the band have hyped it as, this was not a Joshua Tree to Achtung Baby type reinvention, more like the transition from War to Unforgettable Fire I'd say.

  • Rakish - 15 years ago

Most fans disagree with me but I like "Stand Up Comedy" a lot. Oh well, we're all different. Album is very good. Live tour soon, cannotwait!

  • Ron Bon - 15 years ago

The first eight songs carry me on a cloud. It's a high. It slows a bit after that (with the exception of Breathe which I think is pretty cool). Everything on this album carries high energy and emotion except for the slow paced "white as snow" and "cedars". Besides those two, listening to this one is on ongoing habit. thanks bono and co. for another great one. You had me worried for a bit there with Atomic bomb

  • Wik73 - 15 years ago

Songs 2 thru 4 are great but beyond that it is a disappointing album. I agree with many that the band left the best song off the album in "Winter". The lead song is just awful. I think it's the worst thing they have ever done...right up there with "Luminous Times", which for some ungodly reason they want to play live. This could have been a special album but songs five through seven and the opener just kill it for me.

  • Venus Flytrap - 15 years ago

Gotta agree with you on the "No Line on the Horizon" song Zach! Bono belts that one out of the park. I like Unknown Caller and GOYB, but not to the 5 rating. The songs that merit the 5 rating for me are the first 3 songs, Crazy, Fez-Being Born and Breathe.

  • Zach - 15 years ago

Plenty of good tunes there, though I can't stand Unknown Caller, or the way GOYB was mixed (why are we hiding Larry's drums?). Really liked the title track, although I liked the rhythm guitar part the first time I heard it, in songs called 'The Fly' and 'Lady with the Spinning Head.'

  • Garfield - 15 years ago

OK OK I think everybody needs to relax!!! firstly its not a bad album BUT not there best!! since the release the album has come out at a bad time too overall units are DOWN and on U2 behave GOUB was a bad choice as the lead single BUT is placed in the middle of the album (WHY!) as they knew themselves too..
BUT also I come from a design background and notice they are not keeping up with new tech eg twitter or keeping people alive!!) NB I notice very little news over the last 3 weeks or more !!! too And here is the best part and you MAY all laugh at this POINT BUT its the first HERE!!! I dont think people take to BONO when he has short HAIR eg remember POP !!!! I know I know BUT its all image !!!! and getting back to the marketing end of things when MAG single came out they did not have a BIG campaign even there own website took 3 weeks before having a visual on there intro page !!! I would sack there PR including the producer plus the video for MAG was poor too, they needed a real punch weather they are starting too loose it I dont know just yet BUT someone in the camp needs a shake !!! next time I see BONO in lillies Ill say it to him !!! but remember U2 will be back !!! and better

  • DAVID - 15 years ago

I gave it the five star rating. Unknown Caller, Crazy, and Breathe, are highlights to an awesome offering. Way to go laddies!

  • Terrence Wallace - 15 years ago

This is the 1st time since the 90's that i loved their music. Moment of Surrender makes me melancholic in a sweet way. Magnificent is just magnificent. To me the album flows from beginning to end. It doesn't have hooks, true, but to me that is a good thing. It feels like a complete project instead of a collection of poppy hooks like the last 2 albums. This album to me is a sweet slow burner, i don't know if that makes sense to anyone but it makes sense to me. in the end that's all that matters, it either works for you or not. for me it is such a great thing to listen to.

  • Rachel Y - 15 years ago

This album is energetic for me in the mornings on the way to work, 1st 7 songs. It soothes me on the way home after work, last part of the record ending with Cedars. 5 stars.

  • gnasher - 15 years ago

It really is a pile of poo. Hope they get their act together or they're finished = ditch eno, lanois they're past theyre sell by dates

  • tim - 15 years ago

where would I listen to the song winter at?

  • chris - 15 years ago

when you have really somethin to say, the music just flows out of your heart, of your brain... Why does this music sound so controvert? First of all, because of the high expectations. For the last 4 years we were told that u2 would go and reinvent themselves once more, that the would make a concept album. None of that happened. I follow them since 1985 but this is the very first time that i said: thats crap. An unexeptable first single, a cd full of "oh, oh, oh" choruses with no clear direction. There are moments that something sparkls but ends soon to another disappointing chorus, as if the band tries to be new and experimental but at the same time fear of not getting able to fill up the stadiums in the upcoming tour. The money, the Live Nation contract, the lack of need that could lead to a great song... I really dont know, i only feel dissapointment. I miss the spark that set the flame, it has become more business than music

  • Chandra Reyes - 15 years ago

I am new to being a u2 fan. This is the first time I really like a U2 album. My brother is a fan since the beginning, and he always annoyed me with it, playing the Joshua Tree over and over. Fez-Being Born is the song that caught my attention. Magnificent is another one I really like. We see U2 at the concert here in L.A. this year. Exciting!

  • Carlos - 15 years ago

This album rocks my world! I wanted a change from the last 2 albums and the band gave it to me. In a word, MAGNIFICENT! I love to listen at night with the headphones on.

  • Hal - 15 years ago

My 2 favorites of all time u2 and REM. ACCELERATE is pure genius. NLOTH is unworthy of U2. Fire the producers. I'll still go the to show.

  • Jim Bob - 15 years ago

Hi Lucy, you're right. My personal recent experiences of trying to be positive about NLOTH have taught me to avoid these situations in future, it really isn't worth my time getting involved with trolls. It is so pointless though by being negative and can't understand why people get pleasure out of it. I do still enjoy the music and that's really what counts, I'm just not posting any more reviews or countering someone elses negative comments, it leads to hassle I don't need.

  • Lucy Lemon - 15 years ago

Have you noticed that it's the minority naysayers that are the most outspoken at the release of every album? Silent are the grand majority of the people who gave the album 4 or 5 stars. They just enjoy the music.

  • Jim Bob - 15 years ago

Good point Ricky! What is it with some people? Who was this person, I wonder they are connected with this imbecile I've encountered on Amazon...?!

  • Ricky - 15 years ago

First of all two thumbs up for NO LINE ON THE HORIZON!

As for trolls trying to get a reaction from U2 and fans of other bands...

It's not just on Amazon, but you'll get those kinds of losers on any forum, including this one. I don't refer to people who genuinely do not like the music or album (it's all right to have an opinion).

What I am referring to is these bozos that can't just make a point and move on like everyone else. There was this guy on the @U2 forum a while back that did not like the direction U2 took...no crime there. But then he just posted and posted and posted...and got into arguments with other fans (who also should have just ignored him). When he was obviously getting his butt kicked in the arguments he then changed his screen name several times (you could tell it was still him making the same points and spelling errors). I felt embarrassed for him and he obviously needed help.

  • Suzie A - 15 years ago

Hi Jim Bob and Tony, I've also seen what this person Steven Guy in Australia has written about NLOTH on Amazon in his 1 star review and the insults he's made about us fans as being "one eyed" and "the goon squad". He seems to have been involved in a number of spats with several fans and keeps taking down his review so that peoples comments are then deleted then re posting it to try to make it seem that the majority of people actually agree with him! It seems to me that he upsets U2 fans gleefully but then doesn't want to accept their view back. I think he needs some serious therapy! I've also noticed he does the same sort of thing with withering 1 star reviews he's also posted on other acts like Diana Krall, Coldplay and The White Stripes. I agree, we should make a stand against him and Amazon should deal with people like this properly for being abusive in this way. I don't care if he doesn't like NLOTH but I also feel that he has stepped well over the line here by insulting the band and their fans.

  • Tony Ventner - 15 years ago

I've seen this review as well Jim Bob and tried to alert people about this idiot a while back! Sorry to hear you've had trouble with him for supporting U2. Sure, I'll back you up aginst him Amazon if it does any good, maybe with a few more of us U2 fans out there perhaps something can be done to give chummy back what he richly deserves. It beats me why people have to be like this however I see no reason why they should get away with it. C'mon all fans, give this Steven Guy some negative feedback on Amazon USA site under the 1 star review section for NLOTH. Revenge can be sweet....!

  • Jim Bob - 15 years ago

I really love NLOTH but can you believe this! I have been ATTACKED on Amazon USA for defending the album against a 1 star review posted some nut in Australia called Steven Guy whose written the worst review you'll ever see about the album but he then has a go at U2 fans as well by following other 1 star reviews and any U2 fans who try to defend it! Christ! What is the world coming to, I was so hacked off by this lunatic I've taken all of my reviews down until Amazon do something about people like this. I'd like as many of you to check this review out and complain to Amazon please in support of NLOTH and the band.

  • Bob P - 15 years ago

This album is fantastic! I see that people either love it or hate it, which is always the case for this band. Nothing to worry about-(everybody gets an opinion.)

For me, it's the best album and the best songs that have put out there in a while. I put this album to the "Crank it up during a long distance trip" test. It was a relief that this album was great because I have heard their other stuff so many times I can't even listen to it anymore. I needed something great and new- and the lads delivered!! U2 rules!

  • Liz - 15 years ago

Sorry, No Line is garbage. U2 have jumped the shark. Been a U2 fan for 20 years and no wonder Larry is thinknig of leaving the bamd after this effort. Eno has overproduced everything. There is no song that is any patch on their early work. Even the B side of the Best of 80s album is better.

In Bono's words, one more bad album and they are out.

  • Jordan - 15 years ago

Oh and also, Kite is a fantastic song, has been a fantastic song, and will always be. Idk how you can see it's not a keeper. It's not forgetful, and it means a lot to me. It's a beautiful song. U2 writes fantastic music. Not every song is gunna have great hooks, it can still be a great song without those. U2 rocks, and I can't wait for the new album, songs of ascent. And I'm rpetty sure magnificent, fez being born, moment of surrender, nloth, breathe, and get on your boots will all last. For U2 fans anyway. Fez being born is the most beautiful piece of music ever written

  • Jordan - 15 years ago

Fantastic album. I got bored of old U2. And even if this stuff isn't the greatest, it's new stuff, it's 11 more U2 songs that I now get to listen to. They are all pretty good songs, and I cannot wait to see them live. Even stand up comedy will do. I jsut wanted to listen to some neww u2, and I'm glad I did.

  • Martin C - 15 years ago

    Hi Danny

Your e-mail has made me realise how things can change so much from one album to the next. Think about Atomic Bomb- 3 brilliant singles (and All Because Of You wasn't that bad either), 2 consecutive no 1s (their first time for that after all those years). It showed that after all those years they were still at the forefront of music and relevant. Your comment about buying tickets for the concert for the back catalogue is scary!- that's getting into Roling Stones territory!

I desperately want the excitement of future albums to still be there and I hope it will be. I just think this record has backfired badly. Hope they re-group soon and re-gain somemomentum that's been badly damaged by this album- new producers anyone?

  • Danny - 15 years ago

Hallo Martin C: I've been buying their albums for the past 25 years. When NLOTH arrived I listened urgently and intensely for two weeks, but it just wouldn't grab me. Reading your email I just realised that 3 weeks have gone by since last I listened to it. It just doesn't work. I think the problem started when they released the in-between single filler albums. The whole concept of NLOTH feels exactly the same as "Electrical storm". Sticky, stodgy and overweight. There are no real hooks, melodies or even word phrases that make you take notice. But as many U2 fans would have done, I have bought tickets to their concert if only to see them pack out the back catalogue. That will do for now, but the excitement, for me, about future album releases is no longer there.

  • Dave - 15 years ago

    Martin C:

You think even Pop has more going for it? I must say, Ive been listening to Pop quite a bit over the last few weeks and I believe there is no question Pop has more going for it. That is a very sonically and lyrically adventurous record and it was the last time that u2 was willing to f@#% up the mainstream, as Bono once said. The 3 u2 albums from the 2000's havent been horrible, but for my money, Pop was their last great record.

  • Martin C - 15 years ago

Been a massive U2 fan for 20 years now but just cannot get excited about this album! Was very disapointed with GOYB as a single ( a poor man's Vertigo). Opening track is underwhelming (not a patch on Zoo Station, Where the Streets Have No Name, Vertigo or even Beautiful Day). I will say that Moment of Surrender is stunning, but there's precious little else that's exciting on there. GOYB is almost a welcome breath of fresh air when it comes along. Cedars of Lebanon is an interesting and thoughtful closing track but other than that, I'm just very disapointed with this album.

I can't understand the reviews that say this is up there with their very best. I'd far rather listen to Atomic Bomb or ATYCLB over this, it doesn't come CLOSE to Achtung Baby and I think even POP has got more going for it.

It really is the first U2 album in 20 years that is a disappointment and that I've almost given up on. I suspect that if fans are being honest, there's probably a lot more thinking like that. Lets just hope we don't have to wait another 4-5 years for them to put things right.

  • Janyce Price - 15 years ago

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO THINK ITS NOT ALL THAT GREAT,I URGE YOU TO KEEP LISTENING. I DID NOT LIKE IT AT ALL TO BEGIN WITH. WITH THE EXCEPTION OF MAGNIFICIENT. KEEP REPEATING THE ALBUM AND IT WILL BECOME EVIDENT THAT ITIIS ABSOLUTELY BRILLANT! NOW I CANNOT STOP LISTENING TO IT!!

  • Johnno - 15 years ago

Not their best ever (achtung is my favorite) but definitely a solid album! I've enjoyed listening to this one. This concert tour will be awesome and I can't wait to catch these guys in Houston this October. I give it 4 stars. Solid songs with a few hiccups...but over all this album is a great listen.

  • embolicat - 15 years ago

    Meh...!

Except for Magnificent and maybe something else around there, this album is not their finest, by far.

  • Pete - 15 years ago

Chris - actually, Kite was revived for several concerts at the end of the Vertigo tour, closing the set at most (all?) of the Australia/New Zealand fifth leg. It might not have been a regular during the tour, but the band have quite clearly held on to it. You can hardly declare a song dead when it was played on their most recent major tour leg!

  • chris - 15 years ago

Never been played live since the ATYLB Tour, Dave. That tells us something. A keeper, but not a classic.

  • Dave - 15 years ago

Gotta disagree with you, Chris, about Kite. That one is a keeper.

  • chris - 15 years ago

I found the album pretty dissapointing. In my opinion there is not a single song on that album that will last, not even one U2 "anthem". There are songs in every new U2 album that we like, such as "Kite" or "Staring at the sun" etc. that are good but dont make it further than the following tour. NLOH is pittyfully full of those B-quality U2 songs. Of course, only time will tell...

  • Beth - 15 years ago

I gave it a 5, but what I would really want to say about it is that artistically, I think NLOTH is on a level with Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby - but *commercially*, in terms of broad-access appeal, it's nowhere near on the same level as those two albums.

Personally, if it's a choice, I'd rather see U2 follow their artistic vision with integrity than make commercially popular music.

  • John - 15 years ago

"New" is an overrated and highly subjective term. What may sound "new" to you may sound old and tired to someone else. What does it ultimately mean? I'm more interested in good music. That's what U2 have created here. Good music. All that matters.

  • Ricky McDermon - 15 years ago

Only 3 of the composititions on the Horizon LP required a growing on you assesment; All others hit you in the gut and soar as well as Achtung or Vertigo! However, I must say U2 live is the greatest experience the listener can have in order to appreciate the full no holds barred creativity of one of the best rock bands ever!
Just when you think how can these guys do better than this, they do! I love it!
Ricky McDermon Macon, Ga. 4/24/09 mcdsplace@hotmail.com

  • Andrea - 15 years ago

So much for punk rock on Venus, unless they found a geriatric home there.
Time to ditch Eno, Lanois, and Lilywhite, and maybe you WILL do something new for a change.

  • Dan - 15 years ago

I've been playing this album pretty much non-stop since March 3rd and get something new out of it every time. I can't pick out my favorite song, they're all so rich and are definitely getting better with age (and repeated listens). In my opinion the weakest song is probably Stand Up Comedy (though it does have a truly great line, "God is love/And love is evolution's very best day"). Cedars of Lebanon is without question my favorite album closer. Get On Your Boots left me wanting more as a single release, but now, on the album, it truly makes its mark, it just seems to make more sense as part of a collection of songs rather than on its own. (It's also a GREAT tune to drive to.) I can't NOT listen to this album, which means it's every bit as fine a U2 album as Achtung Baby or The Joshua Tree.

  • abomb92 - 15 years ago

This is their second best album. After Achtung Baby of course. Listen to this album on your headphones in the dark. This album is magical. There are so many sounds, new and old. The people that say that there is nothing new on this album clearly have not listened to it carefully.

  • Rob Mercer - 15 years ago

I have to say I'm really pleased with the album, overall I think it's strong and even GOYB now makes sense to me in the context and placing on the album so it gets a resounding 5 stars from me. Well done guys, you've delivered the goods once again!
Tell you what though any fans reading this there is some real idiots writing awful reviews and postings on Amazon USA & UK for NLOTH. It's obvious to me that they are the anti U2 brigade who wheel out their vitriol at every opportunity to write spiteful things about the band and insult the fans! Read some of the comments on the 1 star ratings and judge for yourself, the worst offender is some individual in Australia called Steven Guy whose posted an absolutely horrible pompous appraisal of the album and keeps adding further comments to other peoples comments and attacks anyone who doesn't agree with him! What an arse!!

If they had replaced either I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight, Stand Up Comedy, or even Get On Your Boots with the omitted song Winter, it would have increased the rating by 1 star. I can imagine why they left the best song they have written in quite some time off the album. I could listen to that song 5 times in a row and still want to listen to it again. No Line as is has about 4 or 5 excellent songs, but for some reason its not in heavy rotation after its release for me as much as Joshua Tree, Achtung, Zooropa, or Pop were. The addition of Winter might have changed that.

There are some good songs, but nothing really new or groundbreaking and so far from 're-inventing' rock n roll its un true, but saying that the tour looks wicked! 3.5 /5 is about right!
