The desktop is nice for people who want to build their own custom system, and try to save money by swapping parts out as needed to keep it running as long as possible... but now, computer technology upgrades happen faster than ever, a laptop is really a nice solution. Most people would want to buy a new computer after a year or so anyway.
Since the monitor out is easy to work with, and external keyboard and mouse... the laptop works just fine for me!
