The knowing look. No words said, but worth a million words.

The expressive portrayal of Emma by Romola is best summed up in the scene at her home before the Box Hill picnic when Frank Churchill rebuked her: "Don't give me the knowing look!"

2 incidences of note in episode 4.
Box Hill picnic: The look when she shook her head after Frank Churchill begged her to "No, no, stay with me" when the others have left.
The look when she nodded her head when Mr Knightley said "But you know what I am" in the scenes where he revealed his secret love for her.

Beautiful performance, Romolo. Top marks. Jane Austin has finally arrived into the 21st century.
