My significant other got me a short strand and a braclet and i am constantly hooking them together to make a long strand....so i would def keep the long one
I say keep them because like another commenter said you can always double wrap them. I would never return a jewelry gift from my husband. But, I think if you are asking for other people's opinions then you clearly have doubts about the longer strand. If there is no issue of hurt feelings with your husband, then you should just return them for what you will wear more often.
Keep them! You can always wrap them around your neck twice so they look like a double strand, or tie a knot in the necklace so it hangs like a y-style.
