Of course, my first choice for the Best Pinoy Smile is my 9-month-old son, Evawwen Lii-athné Frriloem O. Mella, and my niece Adia Mandela Fereira M. Mateo--both of whom have natural smiles.
As an observant, I vote also a number of contestants whom I don't know. I based my choice on the naturalness of their smiles. I chose those whose smiles were obviously not taught or prompted by someone...those whose curves on their faces seemed very natural and easily made.
Of course, not everyone will win; many will lose. But as a parent, I won't be disappointed. I want to teach my child the reality of life that there are times when we will win--take this humbly--and there will be moments when we will lose or fail--take this as a lesson and an experience and an opportunity to do better and work harder for the next chance.
