Why not just search every single person before they leave their house in the morning? Sounds like that could stop shootings too.

I go to Brockton High Scool now and this is insanity. Putting metal detectors in the school... This stuff happens very, very, very rarely and I find it insulting that our own newspaper and all the other media outlets jump on us when a something bad happens. We pride ourselves in our hard work, athletics, bands, clubs, need I go on. And I find it even more insulting that our Mayor-Elect Linda Balzotti would even think of putting in metal detectors and acting irrationally like that. This city has to support its High School and realize all the good things that go on here, not the one bad stain done by an idiot who doesn't even go to Brockton High School.

From 2003-2007 I went to BHS, and never, ever, ever, did I feel unsafe. Metal detectors, I think, would make everyone feel LESS safe, both in and outside of school. Further, that would subconsciously prime students to think that they are dangerous and untrustworthy. These kids are already struggling against perceptions about race/ethnicity, language barriers, and low income levels. There is no need to criminalize kids who have done nothing wrong.

We need to understand this has nothing to do with the school its self. it ignorant children with these guns that the think are toys . So dont punish the school punish the suspect for commintng a crime !
So dont start bad mouth brockton high school because its not the school !

i dont belive brockton high should have metal detectors bcause this incident didnt not have to do with any students at brockton high. They didnt belong there in the first place. And this would make thing very complicated for students and facuilty. We need to understand that bhs is a very good school its just that some people diecide to ruin it for others ! So dont punish people pf someone else actions

Brockton High always has something going on from morning til past 9 at night, several nights a week. They have stuff going on during weekends as well. Between Instrument lessons after school, Jazz Band rehearsals, Wind Ensemble rehearsals, BACHWE rehearsals, kids are coming and going out of the Fine Arts building all the time. Nevermind all the students in different sports coming and going over at the gym and ice rink. And all the kids coming and going from the regular buildings for academic reasons. Are you going to have metal detectors at all entrances, being manned by personal, over 18 hours a day, seven days a week. Most kids at BHS are good kids.
