Do you think Vancouverites are polite?

The people born in the lower mainland are some of the unfriendliest people around. They may not go out of their way to be rude and un-polite ,but they sure dont go make a effort to help strangers or tourists.
I have helped a half dozen tourists with transit directions because the stuck-up, self obsessed locals cant be bothered. When you see people standing with a map looking for directions go and help them you stupid Born in Vancouver idiots.

As someone from rural BC who spent time monthly down in Vancouver for more than 5 years (averages 7-10 days per month over that time period), I find the people for the most part to be very unfriendly. The friendliest people I found, were ones who were visitors like myself or those who were very new to the lower mainland. I found this to be in all sectors - the hospitality, retail and even individuals. Try to ask what skytrain to take to Burnaby and it becomes very apparent people do not want to talk to you, a stranger, yet give help. Even my children have noticed this. The closer you get to Vancouver the less friendly people are. There seems to be an overwhelming attitude that we are better than anyone else and it comes across in their actions and attitudes. As a visitor to Vancouver, I would not feel comfortable asking a Vancouverite for directions or information during the Olympics - I just might find myself being verbally attached for supporting the Olympics. Vancouver might be a great city, but so are other cities accross this country. Just because you believe you live in the best place in Canada does not give you permission to be unfriendly to others. I hope Vancouverites welcome the world, but I think there are too many radicals/ anti- government/anti-Olympics and anti-everything else in Vancouver who will overshadow the friendly people who may be out there.

That's because everyone who is rude and nasty is originally from somewhere in Ontario.

I hope media will continue to remind drivers to be more courteous to Olympic visitors unfamiliar to the area searching for certain venues. I find so many rude, impatient drivers in my midst. Please just let people in, it may only mean a second of your day but take the stress off visitors and ward off accidents for everyone!

I find people here to be either super polite and helpful or extremely rude and egotisticly sarcastic. there never seems to be a happy medium

Vancouverites are definitely NOT polite when it comes to line-ups. Seems many of us have no knowledge of this basic concept, especially when it comes to bus lines and concession lines.
