My wife and I were at Cooke Barracks soon after you left. I had just done a tour in Vietnam and was assigned to the 48th Transportion Company as an airplane repairer (MOS 67G), but since the 48th never saw any fixed-wing airplanes while I was stationed there I was used in the motor pool and POL.
Nice to hear the voice of a fellow 48th soldier. We did all the travelling we could, but didn't get out of Germany.
I was assigned to the 48th Transportation Unit, 4th Armored Division, 2years 4months 7days:1969through1971
My MOS 35M20 / 35N20: Avionics and Navigational Equipment Repairman/ Rotor Wing Aircraft
I did a lot of partying and a lot of traveling to: France, Austria, Switzerland and Italy , on my free time.
I was activated to Germany, Freidburg, during Desert Shield / Desert Storm, than 3rd of the 87th Infantry USARMY
Reserves. While there, I wanted a return visit to Cooke Barracks but hadn't the time.
I have a lot of good memories whike stationed in Goeppingen.
