I am sick and tired of VANOCs caterwalling about everything that isn't making money for them. How dare they keep screaming about copyright infringement. They copied the ancient designs of the Cowichan first nations band, and, to avoid a law suit they permitted the band to sell their own product near the games venues. They also attempted to shut dpwn a pizza parlor that used the name olympus for about 40 years. They trampled on human rights by discriminating against the female ski jumpers. On top of that and many oyher mean things they imported many Canadian souvenirs
from Asia and other offshore venues, ie. the olympic dolls, clothing, etc.

Hypocritical action by the Vanoc committee. Since the beginning the Games everything associated with them has been one controversy after another. It's obvious the majority of British Colunbians did not want them in the first place and if Gordon Campbell had allowed a proper provinc wide vote or referendum on the event, we would not be dealing with this now. And he and his friends in the news media are well aware of that fact.

More ridiculous behaviour from the hypocritical VANOC crowd. Campbell's Olympics, like so amny in the past, reeks of marketing and commercialism, so why should VANOC complain?
The sooner the games are over and done with, the better I say (as do most of the people trhoughout BC).

Scotia bank should tell the Vanoc gestapo to go "pound sand" I don't think they should back down 1 inch. While I live in rural BC, it amazes me that there has'nt been a public revolt over Vanoc's bully tactics, and while I love sports this is nothing but sports for the rich, and the hell with the ordinary tax payers, that will be saddled with the hidden bills after this bad joke has been told.

I am an Olympic supporter (oops, can I use that word Olympic or have I infringed on Vanoc?). However it appears to me the person(s) who are placed in charge of copyright protection for the Olympics have gone way to far! They are grasping at straws. Last I checked Vanoc does not hold copy rights on Canadian colors, red and white nor on a slogan "Show your colors" Give me a break, whom ever thought this was an infringement on Olympic (oops again)copy right has a very colorful imagination and very little common sence. Slow down Vanoc, use a little grey matter!

I am just sick of VANOC.

We need to pass a law in this country that we will never again hold a function that can ignore local humanitarian laws (womens ski jumping).

When will the Olympics be about the athletes? So sick and tired of VANOC, the IOC and all the politics that goes with the Olympics. This is just a party for the rich!!!

Vanoc and IOC are both out of control with their greed.

This is ridiculous... More power to Scotia McLeod.. enough already by Vanoc!!!

  • Val - 14 years ago

I do not believe that the pride in our athletes is for only those who paid for the privilege to be fans. In that case I would not be able to cheer for our teams and individual athletes. Go team Canada. I hope VANOC doesn't come after me now.
