Mo'Nique's performance as Mary Jones, the welfare mother in "Precious," blew me away. The entire performance was utterly believable, but the scene towards the end of the film when Mary and Precious confront each other in the social worker's office went right to the heart of the human condition. Mary is a very flawed human being, but Mo'Nique made us recognize her as a wounded soul, empathize with her, and pity her. I am wondering what Mo'Nique can possibly do in the future to match this powerful performance.
