The land line phones have a surcharge for this service. Forget the tax and work on the Cell phone providers to place a surcharge on their service. The flying fingers that text profusedly should pay their share of the service. This surcharge would produce more funds than the sales tax would. This was voted down as DSPBacon pointed out.

We have a wonderful dispatch center that is lossing funding because Missouri will not pass a tax on cell phones. The people of Phelps county deserve this service and have come to expect it when they call for help. Its only right that we fund a needed service that has been a huge benefit to our community.

I thought they had a tax on cellular lines too for 911 services,so how is a decreasing number of land lines causing a problem?
