I don't believe it is worth the time or money. To fight a suit or by the rights to the patent. You're just losing time. Don't waste your money.

I had to vote for "remove from marketplace". Not because I think it is a bad app, quite the contrary, I think it is a great app. Unfortunately, Chris doesn't have the resources to fight a legal battle, unless he can get a pro bono lawyer. I certainly don't think he should pay a licensing fee, to hell with Cequint. Besides, it would no longer be a free app. I have 3 patents myself, but completely unrelated to this situation, nor am I a lawyer,so I can't offer any legal advice for this situation. What I do think would be great is if someone,or some people anonymously, (and has no connection to Chris) started posting the code for this app all over the internet. Like everyone else, I think this is the definition of a bs case. Legally, they may be in the right, but I am sure the program didn't take a dime from Cequint's profits. This is very similar to the legal issue that apple and android had over pinch-zoom. No one who planned on buying a Droid ever changed their mind and bought an iPhone instead because of pinch zoom. I certainly understand protecting what is yours, but this lies well within the realm of the absurd. In the future, I am keeping my eye open for Cequint so I can refrain from getting or using anything by them.

Ugh. Software patents are so evil. And patents in general are supposed to be non-obvious. How can modern-day caller id be anything but obvious?!

apple probably came up with their own way of displaying it.

Dude, it sucks bad. I hate when that happens. I suppose they sued Apple or Apple paid the license fee to display the city on the call?
I'm filing a patent today on "How to successfully TAKE A SHIT", so anyone that has a bowel movement better watch out, i'm LITERALLY coming for your ass!
