Have you bought your own copy of an e-book because you couldn't get the p-book free from someone?

One thing I'd like to point out is that I have bought eBooks to replace paper copies. It's more convenient for it to be on my Kindle and I won't lose it or have to worry about it falling apart. I had paperbook copy of The Stand, for example (which I purchased used, btw). It was falling apart. When I saw it on Amazon for less than $7, I bought it.

The majority of the books I have on my kindle are free. However, I would never have purchased most of them. One such was The Angel Experiment. It looked mildly interesting, but if it had been paper, I probably would have never purchased it. It was free so I got it and read it. I loved it so much that I have already purchased and read the next two books in the series and the manga version as well. So the strategy of offering the first book for free definitely worked in this case. :) The only reason I haven't purchased the entire series is I have already exhausted my book budget for the month - and it's March 9th!
