I really think the flash "sideways" should be read more as flash "epilogue." After all is said and done in the final 10 or so eps, we won't have answers to everything, but the flash "sideways" will give some kind of closure to what happens to the characters after the island experience. Read in this way... Linus, Jack, and Hurley, and possibly Sawyer will have happy endings. Kate and Sayid... so far, not so much. Time will tell with Sun and Jin.
