Jo, Liza has a WP.org blog for many that is enough.

I love AR. I get frustrated.

    It is easy
    It is familiar
    Google loves it

Google loves my first born blog on RT now too... It did not when I joined AR in 2006, but it has for a number of years. Google loves my WP blog. I may be reassessing things there.

It is every man for himself and woman. Different strokes for different folks.

Neither of my other two blogging options are easy or as familiar to me as AR. WP should be. Maybe I need to immerse myself there.

Maybe it is because I don't have all my eggs in one basket that I haven't been really upset at all of this. I am a member that does pay for some services. ActiveRain is so easy and receives so much attention from search engines it is hard to not be there. Of course my first priorities are my WP blogs [which of course I learned how to do because of what I learned on AR] AR was a career saver for me so I have that soft spot! I have met people that I would never have met before and that turned into business too - I just hope the AR guys can figure this out soon.

Both of my hosts (Blue Host and now Dream Host) have been very reliable on my WordPress.org blog but it still ended up down twice in 2009 because of me. I am probably just not geeky enough for WordPress.org but when I lost all the content since 2007 I was hysterical.

Is any host guaranteed to be reliable even if they experience growth? Of course you can move hosts if one experiences growth and does not keep up their end of the deal and people are free to leave ActiveRain, they always have been.

I remember the server errors in 2008. There is evidence of it on ActiveRain. I don't think everyone forgot.

No, not going back. I'm done. Wordpress and the hosting service I use is MUCH more reliable. Also - what people tend to forget is that there were proxy errors and all kinds of problems in 2008 that lasted quite a while. Burn me once...you know the 'ol saying.
