Which science career advice have you heard first hand?
If you do not change locations between grad, post-doc and/or faculty positions you are not committed to science
Geographical change isn't necessary but you MUST change institutions
Geographical / Institutional change isn't strictly NECESSARY...but you will definitely be a better scientist if you do
One stage change at the same institution is okay but more than that is a big problem
It is irrelevant whether you stay at same city / institution or not across your career
Although I don't agree personally, you WILL be judged by the field if you don't switch institutions / geographical location
Nobody has ever directly said anything about this to me.
