Please don't do Reefer Madness. That movie ran out of campiness in the 1970's. Jack the Giant Killer would be your best choice.

Either movie is fine as long as the writing is by Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy, and Bill Corbett and NOT by two faceless guys who do not seem to be getting enough credit (see the back of the Rifftrax shorts dvd compilations).
My votes with "Jack." They've worked the "Reefer" thoroughly. I'd like to see something new with a little special attention given to it. But I'll be there whatever they choose!

I loved the stop motion sequence at the beginning when Jack fought the giant inside the windmill. This is one of Harryhausen's best. BTW, isn't Pendragon the family name of King Arthur? Hopefully they are not related!

Well, whatever it is, I hope to get to go see it. It looks like Jack is in the lead by a pretty good margin...

Jack! There's already two versions of Reefer, something new!
Jennifer Cole - 14 years ago
"Jack the Giant Killer", because of the creepy clown doll and Jack beats up a mime!
Russell Pelt - 14 years ago
I voted for "Jack" -- "RM" has been done quite a bit, and "JtGK" is just the change of pace we need. Lotsa Harryhausen creature-animation, early '60s special effects, and a princess who gets turned into a Jack Kirby-villainess at one point... not to shabby. It's like a higher-budget "Magic Sword"!

Let's go with something new, shall we???
spooksmom88 - 14 years ago
I vote Jack. I already own both versions of Reefer Madness, and while they are both excellent and I have seen them numerous times, Jack is NEW! YAY!! There's nothing better than a new riff... unless it's two new riffs. :)

...Plus, I'd like to get my 15-year-old nephew along this time...that might get REAL awkward with his grandpa.

The live show has become a Father & Son event for us. I don't think I'd be that comfortable with the drug theme. I'd like to keep them a little more family-oriented, as there ain't that much truly funny stuff that's "age-appropriate." (BTW, I'm talking about MY dad, lol).

Either one will be funny.

Reefer Madness is something of 'old hat' in bad movie circles these days I think. It's so bad it doesn't need any kicking when it's down. Jack on the other hand looks prime, go for that one. :)

Jack is new to me and appears to be non-stop awesome.

Reefer is fun, but I haven't seen Jack yet. Jack I say :-)
Elbs - 14 years ago
I have no desire to see Reefer Madness, no mater ho much of acult classic it is! Jack all the way! Looks so lame and rifferific too!
Jack the Giant Killer. You've already done "Reefer Madness" -- why do a rerun? And "Jack" is a much goofier movie, a kind of "Jack Frost". You do "Jack" and I'll be there (and if you don't know Jack, then I won't!)
Bat Masterson - 14 years ago
Jack! I've already seen Reefer Madness.

First off I'd really love to see something new, Reefer Madness has been done to death. Secondly, DID YOU SEE THAT TRAILER??? Holy crap, that would be a spectacular riffing event. Soooooooo much joke fodder in that (leprechaun in a bottle that sounds like Scotty from Star Trek, and it just goes on from there). Additionally, it is probably a longer movie than Reefer Madness, so we'd get more for our money (not to mention a high-budget cheese-fest), and it is already so easy to obtain Reefer Madness (both the Mike only riff and the group riff), yet I don't even know yet how they would disseminate a riffed Jack the Giant Killer to us, would we have to wait for a riffed DVD release of it or would they end up skipping riffing it all together if we don't have it done live at this next event?
I'll say this, I see little to no reason for my group to get together, travel to the theater on time, and pay $12.50 each to watch something we already have at home. But, Jack the Giant Killer.... Oh I'm so there.
eegah - 14 years ago
It's gotta be Reefer Madness. I'd like to see Jack because it would be a new riff, but Reefer would bring in the non-MSTies. As long as you PROMISE to do Jack later, I'm on board with Reefer. ;)

How about doing some TV episodes. There are plenty of "TV on DVD" out now.
I think Pendragon wore that cape to hide the name of his bowling team. This looks rich.
We'll see either, but Jack...for the win.

Jack, because it's new. Plus I was never fond of the Reefer Madness riff.
Punchy McPunchy - 14 years ago
Definitely Jack the Giant Killer. I'd go either way, but I would much prefer to see something new rather than something I could watch anytime I felt like it.

Reefer Madness ALL the way.
Sadly, no doubt this event will be when I'm out of the country and therefore cannot attend. *shakes fist* Darn you Rifftrax!

The Reefer Madness riff is excellent, but I ended up voting for Jack because it'd be something new to me.
Cory Chase - 14 years ago
What a tough choice! But, I have to go with Jack the Giant Killer. However, you can save Reefer Madness for around the California election in November: it will be much more relevant then!
Cara Colgan Bailey - 14 years ago
That was NOT an easy choice :) Short of writing in "riff BOTH " on a ballot ...my boys and I voted for Jack. ..RiffTrax is a family affair and we can't wait for the next live event, whatever the result!

It has to be Reefer Madness! It a a true cult classic! However, a movie that is being re-made may be good as well. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1351685/

"Jack the Giant Killer" all the way!
Ray Harryhausen effects!
The star of the 7th Voyage of Sinbad!
Jack all the way!
Oops. I voted "Reefer," when I meant "Jack." Then it came out Pat Buchannan. This is confusing!

Smurfs
V
MST3K (wait...)
Star Trek
Is anyone reading this?..........hello..........
I'm voting for Jack only because I've heard the Reefer Madness riff already. If the script is going to be new, then I'd vote for Reefer Madness.
Gotta be Jack the Giant Killer!! Reefer has been out on DVD forever!
Jack would be something new and judging from the trailer it looks like prime riffing material!
I think Pendragon wore that cape to hide the name of his bowling team. This looks rich.
