I'm finding that breaking news hits Twitter first, the comprehensive story comes from a dead-tree edition. I read a paper and ink newspaper every day, and have for years. Occasionally get more info from a news website.

I agree with Scott, I'd like see how many tweets/posts contain info that originally came from a newspaper's website. I'd bet it'd be the majority...
Well, with this kind of poll you have to consider your audience. In this case, Mashable is read mostly by tech savvy, social media enthusiasts, so of course Twitter will beat Newspapers. The truth is the world gets nearly ALL of its information from newspaper journalists, whether they realize it or not. Do you think television stations go out and get the scoop on their own stories? Not often. Newspaper reporters do all the leg work, get and write most of the stories and then the internet distributes them in a faster, better, more convienent way then any printed paper ever could. So Twitter might give you bite size info that's convienent, but it also links to information (either original or regurgitated) that was gathered and shared by a newspaper reporter.

By "newspapers," I hope you don't mean the print format. My idea of a newspaper is nytimes.com. I haven't smeared my fingers with ink in a very long time.
