What are the primary issues surrounding Water Treatment Plant 4?

Regarding the difference in effect of the noise in a canyon versus a flat area, think of the Pioneer Ampitheater in Palo Duro Canyon, in the Panhandle of Texas. The performers do not have to wear microphones. Their voices naturally project and reverberate. The special effects, like thunderstorms and lightning, are facilitated by the natural projection of the sound.

There is a school on Anderson Mill Road, and it's a flat area where a noise and safety barrier could be constructed. They should consider the safety of every school in the routes where the rock will potentially be hauled.

We should petition the City to hire accident reconstructionist experts to evaluate the safety hazards of this plan, especially where Spicewood Springs intersects with Scotland Wells. Those trucks will be killing tourists, bicyclists, pedestrians, animals, our grandmothers, and many teenagers. The unsuspecting public will eventually cry out to the news media, and well, you can just imagine the loss of tourist revenue. And what about the dangers to Bull Creek, all of our wildlife, and of course, the numerous protected species currently occupying this habitat? If anyone can provide a mailing list so we can all write to the people in charge of deciding our futures here, I hope they will do so. I am sorry to say I'm just now learning the details of this inconceivable plan.

Their cost estimate does not include wrongful death lawsuits for the rock truck hazards, especially in our neighborhood, but also on the roads used to transport the rock. I have asthma, so I will be forced to sell, and unable to get fair market because of this, and I am just a few years from retirement. With this slow economy, the City should at least be willing to pay US the amount we have been paying in taxes for the duration of this project. Everyone affected by this should describe their potential damages in writing and send it to everyone involved in the decision and the cost estimates. My duplex income IS my retirement plan! If they take it away, they should make arrangements to compensate me accordingly. I wondered, when they resurfaced our little street (Hundred Oaks Cir) and just dumped the gravel on top of the oozing tar and expected it to adhere, why they didn't use a heavy roller like they did on other streets. They apparently KNEW how bad they were planning to DUMP ON US!

It is apparently trivial to vote more than once in this poll (use different browsers for example) so the results here have no meaning.

Go to StoptheShafts.com to see the neighborhood website and learn all about concerns.
