SHAME ON YOU FOR EVEN ASKING A QUESTION LIKE THAT. [ YOU JUST WANNA BE START'IN SOMETHING ]. COME UP HIGHER .

I believe Chris broke down because he totally understood and felt the parallel between his life and Michael Jackson's life. People criticized, mocked, and accused Michael of being all sorts of things during his life time then when he died everybody loved him. Hypocrites! Everyone loved Chris until he made a mistake then some people wanted to tear him down and make him pay for the rest of his life no matter how much he tried to make things right (including the author of this article). Who the heck are we to decide whether someone is forgiven for their mistakes or not? Chris did a phenomenal job and I commended for it!

I'm so sick of everyone questioning if he was sincere or not. Clearly he was sincere. Can you imagine having someone who you idolized your whole life passing and then you are performing that person's words that really speak true to what you've been going through in your own life for the last year. It's got to be an overwhelming feeling. If it was staged he could've started crying right as he came out on the stage. I'm also so SICK of hearing about this Chris/Rihanna mess. Do you have any idea how many of your precious famous icons have been charged with domestic violence and still have a huge fan following? Sports stars, actors, musicians...it happens all the time but we're supposed to single him out? Why? James Brown, Don Cornelius, Big Pun, Sugar Ray Leonard, Gary Dourdan and the list could go on and on but you don't hear anything about them. You don't see anyone boycotting their music, or shows, etc. So why single him out? He's done his time, repented for his sins, and is working on being a better person. Why can't we just leave at that?

If you believe in MJ Chris Brown was moved by MJ's spirit. Only those who can feel MJs spirit will be moved emotionally just the way Chris was. Stop harping on how he is trying to gain publicity. The important thing for Chris is to have learnt from his mistakes and to move on. I do not think it was a publicity stunt. Leave Chris's personal life alone. I am sure he is a star in himself and he does have talent.

You know chris brown is a man that made a mistake first of all he is a YOUNG man with a lot of life before him he knows he made a huge mistake in his life and i am sure if he could change it he would jump to the front of the line to do so but we as people have to remind ourself he has a family that love him a mother that evidently raised him right so we need to stop talking about him and his performance and pray that he makes things better for himself and he's family for he is not the only one suffering here What would you want people to do if you was in their shoes think about it much love to all (side note ) he also is not the first man that ever hit a woman nor will he be the last but i believe it was the last one for him she is not deceased she is still alive and well so she can move on i wish the best for herGod bless them both

GET OVER IT THIS WAS A SERIOUS SITUATION BETWEEN TWO ADULTS HE TOOK THE HIGH ROAD BY NOT TELLING WHAT ALL SHE CONTRIBUTED TO THE SITUATION I'M SURE SHE STRUC KHIM OVER A GIRL CALLING HIM ON HIS CELL AND NOT LETTING HER SEE WHO IT WAS. DO YOU HONESTLY THINK SHE DID'NT STRIKE BITE ARE HIT HIM AT ALL. STILL IT'S NOT RIGHT BUT ALL THE BLAME I'M SURE SHOULD NOT BE ON HIM

  • janae - 14 years ago

People need to get off that rihanna situation...it was wrong yes...but life goes on and I'm sure he learned his lesson...I mean what do y'all expect him to live in a box...his talent is remarkable...and the performance was on point and genuwine...LET HIM LIVE!!!

  • girn blanston - 14 years ago

THE WHOLE THING WAS A BIG FAKE...YOU ARE NO MICHAEL JACKSON...CHRIS BROWN SHOULD GET ANAWARD FOF HIS BOGUS SHOW

  • CRB - 14 years ago

Chris' image will be forever tainted to some degree for being physically abusive... there's no getting around that. I lost a lot of respect for him when he hurt Rhianna. speaking as someone who's been abused herself, I know how hard it is to get over that sense of violation.

it's hard to forgive and move on--but it is, regardless, a good thing to do. holding on to anger and hate for somebody's deplorable actions is like holding onto a burning coal instead of dropping it. it only hurts you in the end. Chris will forever be struggling to make up for what he did, but that's his problem--not ours. we do not need to be adding to the weight that's already on his shoulders. I'm not a fan of the guy, and never really will be, but... he's human. we're ALL human. give him a chance to prove himself before condemning him.

think about the Bible verse about forgiving seventy-seven times versus seven times. we all need to be a little more forgiving than we are. maybe if we all practiced that, the world would be a much better, FAR more peaceful place.

THEE ONLY way Chris is going to get past this mess is by putting out "HITS." If he were to start putting out Gaga & Peas-type hits, his dark side would be weakened enough to where people can like him again. Until then, all his bad-a$$ dancing, and breakdowns won't mean a damn thing.

Although I do not condone domestic violence, I believe young Chris Brown has paid for his actions and its time for everyone to allow him to prove his is in fact a better person. His performance in my opinion was sincere, and obviously emotional for himself and for those who have a sensitive bone in their body. Music brings out emotions in people in many different ways, whether it's through tears, joy, or anger, it is very powerful. When I hear MJ's music, I myself cannot help but to tear up, as I did during Chris's performance. I cried along with him, for Michael, and for Chis. I believe he was crying for Michael, yet I also believe the words hit home for Chris and the words were a plea from him to the rest of the world. Although he could not get the words out, they were loud and clear. I was a victim of domestic violence at a very young age, and even though I detest any male who puts his hands on a woman.... I can see that he is truly sorry and has learned from his mistake. Time to move on. RIP Michael... And blessings to Chirs.

I think Chris Brown danced like MJ last night but the operative word here is "like". Some people have said Chris Brown's performance was "flawless". Don't think so. No one and I mean no one can dance like MJ. As for C. Brown breaking down during Man in the Mirror song, well, I for one think it was for show. He needs better acting lessons. Some people have commented to give him a break that he is trying to redeem himself but as a person who has been through domestic violence, it is not something that the abused can forget. I'm not gonna forget what my abuser did to me and poeple should not forget what he did to Rhiana. I think he was using MJ just as so many others have in the past. Just because he's a celebrity people think he should be given a pass. Well sorry but not me. Hopefully he has learned from his mistake and will not lay his hands on another woman but only time will tell.

  • Karla - 14 years ago

I agree with Deanna, We all make mistakes in life and so it happens he is a famous celebrity and we should not judge unless we are perfect.

  • TDM - 14 years ago

Chris is a young man with his whole life in front of him. Although I don't think that he made the right choices in the whole Rihanna situation, I do beleive that he has learned from his mistake. People are so quick to judge celebrities when they make mistakes but who are we to judge??!! What do some people want him to do? He admitted to his mistake and has tried to repair the damage he caused but in the end he DOES NOT have to keep trying to justify himself for something he has already bravely addressed! We need to take a good long look at ourselves and others around us and realize that he isn't the first and won't be the last to make bad choices. This is the way that one learns from their past expereinces. God knows that I have made plenty of mistakes but luckily I had a large support system to embrace and encourage me to do better as opposed to shooting my efforts down! His performance last night was flawless and VERY REAL! Apparantly, "Man in the Mirror" touched him very deeply and rightfully so. Leave him alone and let God continue to work with him!!! Bless you Chris and I will continue to pray for you rather than judge you!

  • Aly - 14 years ago

It amazes me how everyone can sit here and judge this young man. Who are we to judge? He made a mistake and I honestly believe he has suffered enough and it showed in his perfomance last night that he deeply felt that pain as well! He deserves a second chance as his talent proved that last night.......c'mon people who else could have flawlessly pulled off that Michael Jackson performance the way he did? I will tell you........NO ONE!
I am a Chris Brown fan and will support him and his music! You go Chris!!!

  • T Marie - 14 years ago

People sit here and cant see a qreat performance with real meaninq ..all they see is some1 who made a past mistake ..who are you to judqe him, and say whether his performance was real or fake! ...people tried 2 do the same thinq to Michael ..accusinq him of molestinq children ..and look how his time was short-lived. Please stop judqinq people and take the time to appreciate qood talent ...life is too precious!

  • Moipone - 14 years ago

I think that was no fake at all.You people need to forgive Chris as you would with any other ordinary person. The Boy needs a break and evryone deserves a second chance...EVEN Murderers are sometimes forgiven so please get over it already!!!

  • fatboi - 14 years ago

  • 2nd Chance - 14 years ago

Let him that is without sin among you first cast the stone! We all have sinned and come short at some point in our lives. He deserves a second chance! Should he pay for the rest of his life?

I think his performance was amazing! Chris did an awesome job and I believe that the song really took hold of him at that moment. It was the best performance of the awards show!

  • Nyemma - 14 years ago

Everyone deserves a second chance. Although I did not agree with what he did to Rihanna, it was a mistake. People can be so judgemental. If every personal mistake you made was publicized...what would the world think of you?

  • deanna - 14 years ago

How dare we as human beings try and pass unforgiveness onto others. When i hear people say oh, he ws just using this as a way to sell more albums to come back on top...whatever. I mean think of it like this, he was cut out of a tribute that he would have been in anyway, had not all the events taken place for him and Rhianna last year, and i know that it hurt him, and he has been shunned from society as jacked up as ours. I mean come on now really, we think its cool for men to cheat, women to walk around half naked, and for our children to be thugs and gangster (damn Bin Laden,we creating a few over here too) and one mistake can push you to the edge of society, I say before you judge some one WHICH WE ALLLLLLLL DO, take a look under your own bed, where the porno and filth lies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • Angela - 14 years ago

Yeah, it came across as trite and forced to me. Very opportunistic. But at the same time, there's not another performer (a famous one, anyway) who could've pulled off the moves. I just wish he'd have let the performance speak for itself. That would've been more respectful. Poor MJ. Exploited from his childhood, still being exploited a year after his death.

Fake, fake, fake.He probably will try to release a album soon to build off the publicity!!!!!!!!!

it didn't seem fake to me, i think the words of the song really dawned on him at that precise moment....i hope he really tries to change..if not, he doesn't deserve this second chance.

  • Imani - 14 years ago

Well i think that people realy need to give him second chance. Hes has did wrong he has promised to not do it again let him try to make up for his mistakes.

  • beegee - 14 years ago

Fake, fake, fake.He probably will try to release a album soon to build off the publicity!!!!!!!!!

  • Terry - 14 years ago

I do feel that everyone should learn from their mistakes. Chris has to continually prove that he has learn to not beat on a woman and we shall see in time. In the meanitme, we should embrace him for acknowledging his wrong and promising to do better in the future. Everybody needs a second shot in life. Now, if it happens again, then he should pay the dearest of consequences. Time will tell but in the meantime, let the young man redeem himself.
