I've met them both: Grimm will answer your question honestly and never change his stance, Allegretti will avoid certain questions and try not to ever actually give an answer, and he will change his mind depending on who's vote he's trying to get. Grimm has a past that involves life-risking service for the benefit of others, hard work, and integrity. Allegretti has a business that he inherited from Daddy and not much else. Grimm always mentions his parents in a respectful way. Allegretti publicly talks about his mother's abortion when she was younger. How can someone expose their mother's personal history for political gain sleep at night? This primary election is the easiest decision I'll ever make!

I wish I was back in NY so I could vote for Michael. Went to school with him and heard through a friend he was running. Was SO excited to read about all that he has done with his life and I am super confident that he is the best candidate running. I have relatives back there still and I have forwarded every email I receive to get the word out. I will keep spreading the word. Can't wait to see Mike take it all and clean up this mess!!!

Cap and Trade - Allegretti is a professed believer in global warming and spent years working for the Climate Group promoting cap and trade, and now suddenly, we are to believe that he was lying then and now having changed his position, telling the truth.
Manhattan residency - Allegretti has had apartments in Manhattan since 2003, and this is proven by NYC records and city and state campaign finance records. He has therefore lied every time he stood in front of a group of seniors or veterans calling himself "a lifelong resident of the district."
Congestion pricing - Allegretti was the Director of Climate Initiatives for the Partnership for NYC when they authored and promoted a major study supporting congestion pricing. Allegretti did not publicly disagree with this report, disavow it or resign from his position because of it, even though it was created to combat climate change, which was very kind of policy which Allegretti was hired to work upon.
Industrial polluter - For months Allegretti has bragged about his deep involvement in his family business, Bayside Fuel Oil, and how it has taught him about meeting a payroll, paying for benefits and dealing with the cost of government regulation. And yet, he never once mentioned that Bayside has been cited over 30 times for spilling oil into New York's waterways, nor does he mention the fact as documented by the EPA that Bayside has been polluting the air of the 13th Congressional district with tons of cancer-causing chemical.
Supports the wrong leaders - Allegretti has attacked good Republicans like Guy Molinari, Rudy Giuliani and Sarah Palin simply for endorsing Grimm, and yet he praised the election of Barack Obama as "a positive development" for this country.
If anybody knows knows these two GOP candidates Michael Grimm and Michael Allegretti, it's me. I met Allegretti when he was going door to door in my area. I asked him about issues such as abortion, Cap and trade, and
the economy. He never gave me a straight answer, he wouldn't look me in the eye and was speaking around the bush. Grimm, on the other hand, is a true American patriot, a very nice, down to earth, honest person who I can relate to. I met Grimm a few times and he always tells it like it is when he talks to people. Grimm is the right choice to be our next Republican/Conservative Congressman. I endorse Michael Grimm for Congress. If elected to Congress, he will get our country back from the Socialist Democrats who want to destroy it. Allegretti pretends to be a Conservative in order to get a majority of Republicans in the 13th district of Staten Island and Brooklyn to vote for him. The fact is that Allegretti is nothing but a corrupt liberal Washington lobbyist. Grimm will serve us well when he becomes our Congressman. Allegretti, if elected to Congress, will help the Dems take our beloved America on the road to socialism and promote corruption in our district.

Michael Allegretti's statement was an objective statement. He has made it clear several times that he is against Cap and Trade and had said so as early as the Molinari Club forum. There are those who wish to distort the truth and have you think otherwise.
Thanks for your comment Brochino. I guess we are both right on Molinaro's political orientation because his face book lists him as republican, conservative and independent. WOW. The fact remains he has endorsed McMahon who voted 92% of the time with Pelosi. If Allegretti is now saying that he is against cap and trade then he has flip flopped on the issue. His exact quote was that he thinks cap and trade is "a major step for US domestic climate action" as quoted in the NY Times. We all have our opinions and I formed mine after hearing both candidates speak at the Staten Island Tea Party candidate forum. Of course we cannot all agree on everything but and I am glad you are involved and are voting, although I wish it was for Michael Grimm for whom I am working hard to help get elected.
Ms. Russo, maybe you should know what you are talking about before you go off in a rant. Molinaro is not a Republican, he is a Conservative. Allegretti in addition has stated numerous times that he does not support Cap and Trade. Furthermore, Grimm unlike Allegretti, supports the continuation of government distribution of unspent stimulus money instead of returning it to the Federal Reserve so in my eyes, Grimm=Phoney fiscal conservative=fool.
It doesnt matter who wins this poll. In the Staten Island Advance Poll Michael Grimm blew every other candidate out of the water - both McMahon AND Allegretti. Allegretti, was puposely endorsed by the GOP committee because he has no chance of beating Michael McMahon in the general election. Our own republican borough president is supporting the democratic candidate! On Staten Island the GOP and Democratic party are one and the same. Allegretti commented that he likes cap and trade so in my eyes, Allegretti = McMahon = Allegretti. The only TRUE conservative in this race is Michael Grimm and he will win both the primary AND the general election.
Michael Allegretti's team must be frantically attempting to manipulate this poll in any way possible. This is clearly something they don't want to lose.
Grimm's an awesome candidate with a great record of public service. MchMahon's a liberal, who's not even confident enough to stick to his guns when the going got tough. We need strong, conservative representation now more than ever.

Michael Grimm has was it takes to get our country back all he needs is the support of the people that want to see this happen. There is no doubt that Michael Grimm has what it takes to beat McMahon. If you are a true Republican you will see that. It's not a popularity contest and should not be based on whose Dad you've done business with for years but rather the qualifications of the candidate. Michael has the military experience, financial experience and has a law degree. His qualifications are directly related to the major issues affecting our country today, i.e., the war, the economy. His understanding of how the market works from his FBI undercover work, his understanding of what its like to have served your country in a time of war and the many challenges facing them when they return home. He is a true American who will help to take this country back from those who are in the process of destroying it.
