In view of the 2 serious accidents involving Spokane-to-Sandpoint relay participants, including one fatality ... should the 185-mile race be continued?

I was one of the bicycle escort riders. It is sad that someone has died and others hurt because of stupid people. They are everywhere. During the night I saw stupid drivers, and I also saw stupid relay teams, there were participants that ran unescorted and had no lights and were virtualy invisible. I was also passed by auto drivers and 1 semitruck that was obviously very much over the speed limit. This event should continue. It is a risk to just wake up in the morining. Life is not worth living if we just live in a cave because we are afraind of every possible thing that could go wrong. It is impossible to protect ourselves 100% from the stupid and uncaring.

While any death or injury in an event like this is tragic, the event should not be canceled. If the news reports are correct, the participants were taking proper safety precautions and the motorist involved was clearly at fault.

The solution is getting dangerous drivers off our our roads, permanently, not relinquishing our right to the roads to them.
