Just discovered your poll. And yes Cammy I am also old enough to be your mother. I answered the poll stating the I wanted to be a lawyer. But that is only half of it--I also wanted to be a social worker. What have I been? a Home Economist for Wisconsin Power and Light giving appliance demonstrations, a mom, I received a second degree as an Agricultural Journalist from the University of Wisconsin, the father of my children died and I was a young widow, and a feminist in that order. I became a realtor in Aspen Colorado, an adjunct faculty person in the Arts Management Department of Columbia College Chicago (CCC), and at the same time received an MA in Arts,Entertainment and Media Management at CCC. Then I received my Master's in Liberal Arts (MLA) at the University of Chicago and I am the owner of Fundwell Academy LLC. By the way I have been married twice -- each husband was an attorney and I lived with a Stock Broker in Wisconsin for several years. What has given me the most joy? Being a mom, a teacher, an entrepreneur and sharing my hone with my 22 year grandson who is a music major here in Chicago. What I haven't said -- in 1998 I met Ellen Wagner who was at the time a partner in Infomania. Ellen produced Fundwell.com which I then licensed to CCC. At last I had found my vocation eLearning production and distribution.

Hey Lauren, I look younger than I am ;) And I'm completely with you about needing to keep fresh, wide open eyes! Stay humble, folks, stay humble.

There must be something about being a *good* eLearning professional that requires maintaining a fresh, young look at the world: a look of curiosity, wonder, excitement. There needs to be a motivation to 'oh! let's try this cool new thing!' If eLearning professionals begin thinking that they know their field in its entirety, that they've "been there, done that" -- then they're not being good pro's any longer.

There is a good sturdy body of knowledge to acquire to begin with (especially in instructional design, what we know about good teaching/learning), but beyond that -- let's all stay kids! And yes, I'm old enough to be your mother. ;-)
