I'm torn between the things said on the podcast (anti-rewards as incentive for disciples) and between the principle "what's rewarded is repeated" - wonder if there is a way to combine those ideas....
we split our youth groups a few months back after years of "togetherness". after considering an incentive-based invite strategy our JHM group grew from 8 kids the first night to more than 40 8 weeks later. the intrinsic motivation wasn't completely responsible but it's really helped our JHM students get excited about inviting...and the new kids are sticking.
we haven't tried it with HSM yet because the vibe feels so different. Not sure if we'll pursue it with high school yet....
