Does/did access to public library books affect your EBR buying decision?

I would love to borrow ebooks and if Amazon ever allows it then I will definitely be doing it. However I will wait untill it is available for my kindle.
One thought... what if there were a monthly renting option, for a fee you can "rent" an ebook. Amazon could still be making money and people could borrow books for a fee, like w/movies.

I like the idea of borrowing e-books but I suspect it wouldn't work well for me. I can't read multiple books at a time so I could for see getting access to a book I've waited for but not being able/want to read it right away and the borrow period expiring without either starting or finishing the book.

I voted for the first option, "No...I'm not going to use the public library for ebooks," but that's not entirely accurate. I would use the public library for ebooks if Kindle allowed it. And it was something I considered when deciding to buy an ebook reader; however, the ability to borrow library books didn't make up for the higher prices and much smaller selection that other ebook readers had when I bought my Kindle, especially when I considered the number of free books from Project Gutenberg and other sources I could download for the Kindle.

I would like to occasionally read library books but typically I like to have my own books. I guess it's a carryover from my p-book days. Also my library's selection of e-books is extremely limited.

I can't answer this question. I bought a Kindle although I can't use it for library books. I'm considering getting another ebook reader that can be used for library books. I want both.
