Which way do you have more readers per purchase?

There are six family members on my account and we all shop for books with the others in mind. We certainly buy more ebooks now than we did pbooks. Sharing is much easier now and there are no problems with loaners not being returned. It's nice to be able to buy an ebook as a present for someone on your account, too.

It's our intent in my family for the ebooks to be read by more than one person and this has a profound effect on our buying patterns. Where previously we basically purchased used pbooks to share (which may or may not have actually happened) we now have three people on the ebook account who each buy books with the intent of sharing. This may not sound all that different but it is. We each buy a book with the thought in mind that "even though I may not need this book it's really good, gotta have it, must read etc." and we can justify that expense because surely everyone on the account will feel the same about reading it. This isn't always the case, but it does make a nice rational for purchasing what you want. I'd say we ALL (my account) buy more books than we would if we were on separate accounts or purchaing pbooks. Publishers and authors make more money and we are happy, it's a win win win in my book.
