POLL: Would You Support An Adopt A Shelter Dog Christmas Program?

I would consider a rescue at Christmas time because many people do want to get a dog at this time and I would rather them get a rescue than a pet store/breeder/puppymill dog. It is a very stressed time of year, I agree, but; with the right training from the rescue family and the knowledge they can and do get help overcoming any problematic issues, I think it would be a disservice to the dogs to not allow them a rehoming chance of a lifetime! PLease all rescues everywhere keep up the good work.

I am also in rescue but if you match the right dog with the right family you shouldn't have a problem no matter what time of year it is. It is the rescue's responsibility to help people choose the right dog for their lifestyle and to guide them in what to do and what not to do especially during the holidays. People need to be educated and rescues need to take the time to ask the right questions.

My own personal opinion is adopting a dog from a shelter, rescue or buying a pup from a pet store only ends in disaster most of the time during the Christmas holidays. Pets get returned, they are either not what the consumer wanted, grow too big, end up sickly, etc. Statistics show that this is not the time of year to bring a new pup into your home. I am in Rescue and I shudder when so many applications come in during the holidays.
