Read the Book or See the Movie

Bridges of Madison County. The book was all the rage, and I couldn't get past more than a few chapters. The writing felt juvenile. Not so much the love story, but more the parts set in present w the kids reading the mom's journal seemed cartoonish. I eventually saw the movie on VHS or something, and was enthralled w the romance between Meryl and Clint. Meryl's character being Italian born with her accent and nuanced hand motions. And the impropriety of their affair yet they were both drawn in. It was delightful.

I am a see the movie girl, but I also PREFER to read books after movies. It always delves in much more deeply and when I read the book first, I have usually been disappointed in the film.

I'm definitely a "read the book" person. I love movies, but I can't think of a book/movie combo where I loved the movie MORE than I loved the book.

    Can anyone else?

My answer is actually: read the book, then see the movie. I love to see the transformation from page to screen....and formulate my opinion of how well the job was done.
