Did the 'National Enquirer' cross a line by publishing their Todd Palin story?

A free press, unafraid to take on corrupt politicians is what differentiates a totalitarian regime from a democracy. If Palin can't stand the heat, it's time she got back to the kitchen.

I remember during the Presidential campaign the NY Times ran a completely bogus story on John McCain and one of his aides on their front page. Much much later, there was a small retraction by the NY Times. Same thing here, anonymous sources and nothing more.

Until they have proof, they should not smear a person's reputation with false information and lies. It is one of the 10 Commandments "thou shalt not bear false witness."
