What should the speed limit be on Highway 9?

I have bicycled on that road many, many times and never noticed what the speed limit was. I have never really had problems with motor traffic there.

If anything, the biggest problem was drivers not staying in their lane around blind corners. This has gotten better after the installation of a rumble strip down the center line.

But speed has never been an issue. There is a wide enough shoulder that cars going uphill are not that close to cyclists. On the downhill, the bicycles can keep a speed close to the cars, so there is limited passing. Cars can and do pass when needed going downhill.

I don't think this change was necessary. If it accomplishes anything, it might actually increase hostility towards cyclists.
