Do you think Davecat's obsession is natural?

Spyral has it right. Like Davecat, I too have a synthetic partner. Doll partners aren't crazy, we are just different. It's no worse than being gay, really. Just as a minority of people are attracted to the same sex, a minority of people prefer to be intimate with a simulated person instead of a real one.

Before you judge doll partners for our make-believe relationships, ask yourself: what is the crime in creative fiction and theater? What difference is there between having a synthetic girlfriend and being an actor in a play? In both scenarios, the person knows that they are engaged in fantasy: there is no self-delusion. This brings us to Lars and The Real Girl, which, in my humble opinion, misrepresents almost all doll partners. In this film, Lars is delusional as he cannot admit that Bianca is only a doll. Every doll owner I have communicated with clearly knows that their dolls aren't real.

The current prejudice against human-doll relationships is no different than prejudice against same-sex and interracial relationships. Everyone has the right to do whatever they want, provided they hurt nobody. It's time for the name-calling and bullying to end. We need to move forward as a society and practice tolerance.

I don't think I would call him crazy. Hasn't anyone ever seen "Lars and the real girl" Dave Cat pretty much said that real people hurt you and dolls don't. Who want to get hurt? Although his relationship with a "synthetic partner" it not a relationship that I could have, I totally can understand the logic behind it.
