CRICKET FEVER Section 144 In City, No Big
Screens Allowed WASIM KHALID Srinagar, Mar 29: As the tempers
are running high with the India and Pakistan cricket teams set to clash in Mohali for world cup semi-final, the authorities here have decided to strictly impose Section 144 in the Srinagar city to prevent any law and order problem.
Apart from Section 144, the police said they won’ t allow public gatherings to watch match
on TV or big screens. However, they have highly recommended that power department should ensure hassle-free electricity to Srinagar, especially downtown city, so that people remain indoors.
“Section 144 is implemented in Srinagar,” SSP Srinagar, Syed Ashiq Hussain Bukhari said. “It has to be implemented on Wednesday as well. More than four people won’ t be allowed to gather at one place.” However, the SSP said there was
no tension in the city due to cricket match between Pakistan and India.
On the other hand, a senior police officer told Greater Kashmir that Section 144 would be “strictly” implemented. “We fear there might be law and order problem if Pakistan loses,” the police officer said.
He said there would be no big screens, or TVs allowed at public places, or road sides, even outside the shops.
“We have instructions to arrest people if somebody breaches the order,” the police officer said. The police officer said they are focusing more on downtown city to prevent any untoward incident from happening.
“We have recommended to our seniors for uninterrupted electricity to old city,” another cop said. “We want people stay indoors and enjoy the match without troubling others.” Earlier, the people in Srinagar burnt fire crackers outside CRPF bunkers and camps when unpredictable Pakistan team routed West Indies to storm into semifinals. However, in response, the CRPF lit crackers when India won against Australia to meet Pakistan in semis.
“We have passed strict instructions to all the security people not to do things which would provoke people,” police official said.
In Kashmir, Pakistan team has a huge following. But if they would lose or win would have a great impact on the general law and order situation, the police revealed.
“We have to take pre- cautionary measures to prevent anything wrong from happening,” officials said.
Meanwhile the shopkeepers selling electronic items like television sets and LCDs have been instructed by police not show Indo-Pak match as they usually do in their shop displays.
“We were told not to play matches on TVs which are on display,” a shopkeeper owner on the Residency Road said. “The police have come to shops and instructed us. The prohibition on displaying matches has been communicated to shopkeepers of entire Lal Chowk.” The shopkeeper said the ban would remain in force till the India-Pak match ends.
Firecracker sellers in Srinagar said they were doing booming business. “I have almost exhausted my entire stock and the demand is still unending”, said Sameer Ahmad, a firecracker seller here. Many office goers, students and businessmen have decided to take a day off Wednesday.
It’ s not only people, but some police officers in Srinagar and adjoining areas are also planning to gather to watch the India- Pak match together on Wednesday.

I think shoaib can do any thing in this match because his bowling performace against india is outstanding and one thing more that wahab riaz is not a most experiance bowler and he is not giving a good performance. Indian batsman also take pressure from our Rawalpindi Express. As a diehard fan of Pakistan Cricket and as a patriotic Pakistani,According to what I have closely observed with my very little observation is that Shoaib Akhtar should play this all important semi final match against India at Mohali inplace of Wahab Riaz as with all due respect to wahab's talent but unfortunately he has become a very predictable bowler who either brings the ball back in or just ball straight deliveries.
Semi final between Pakistan and India is going to be played in Mohali. There is a good pace and bounce on this wicket and especially the ball will seem a bit under the lights. Shoeb Akhter may be devastating for indian bating line under such conditions. But the problem is that if he can control himself then he is a good bowler otherwise not. Playing Shoeb Akhter in the semi final is a gamble. If he controls himself Pakistan can win and if as usual he does not then Pakistan may have to pay the price loosing the match. All it dependa upon Shahid afridi to give him alecture not to generate more speed, rather to work on line and length. Then he can surely be very usefull. But sorry to say it is very difficult to change habbits. Dhoni has a little edge over Afridi in captency. Indian batting has alittle edge over Pakistan bating. Pakistan bowling has adefinite edge over indian bowling. Over all both the teams are ballanced. Its a purely game of nerves. The team which will bat good and not miss chances will definitely win semi final. Look at South Africa, they were much better than Newzeland but newzeland did not miss a single chance and luck was at their door. If your practice is well enough, you can make your fortune accordingly. India has never been defeated by Pakistan in the history of world cup but one day india has to get the bitter taste of defeat and that day is Wednesday 30 March 2011 Inshah Allah. Allah bless Pakistan to go through semi final to final and then to victory stand. May Allah bless all of us very good health and hapiness in our lives.

Saeed my friend what other bowler you're suggesting Wahab? Really. you con't be serious. Look at his performance in last games. Just 1 wicket and I don't think he has bowled 10 overs. As of Shoaib completing this 10 overs. Maybe he don't need to. You are going to play with 6 bowlers anyways. All you need is initial break though and bring him back in middle overs BUT i agree don't give bowling to him in death overs. Keep Gul for that. But 1 thing is for sure. Razzaq should not given the new bowl. Indian will eat him alive.

I am sorry to say he is not an Impression bowler any more. He has definately lost his speed and will. I respect Imran khan from my heart but this is the case. We do have other bowlers, only thing they need to do is don't get emotional and deliver the ball on line and length. The batsman will get frustrated and will definatelly give the chance to out him.
I have played cricket myself and used to be a fast bowler and one thing i know for sure, even if your team mates drop catches you still stick to the line and length and it is enough for the batsman to get frustrated and give his wicket out. Plus, everyone knows he has no stamina, he can't even complete his over.
i think he should play the match ....because he is good player and inshallah he will play with zeel and zest........
