YAY red boots, but Pants??? c'mon!

  • nikki - 12 years ago

pants!? PANTS!? come-on! you've got to be joking! If you absolutely HAVE to 'up date' the costume, use hot pants at the very most. But full legged pants is just unreasonable.
On another note; I am relieved to see that they changed to red boots.

Tje old costum need to be modernized, but there is still work to do to have a success. Just compare the new Catwoman (Halley Berry), with the old one to see what is possible.

Ben Lear is right that the costume looks like a cowgirl outfit. In fact it looks similar to an outfit WW wore in the Elseworlds tale, "Justice Riders", which takes place in the old west. I can understand the reasoning for a costume change(sales & younger readers), but WW's iconic costume has been working for her for 70 years, so why change? The new design doesn't scream "WW" at me, it screams 'super powered woman'. How bland.

I personally don't like either of the costumes, I was a big fan of Wonder Woman as a child...both costumes (not the actress) lack originality in my opinion! I agree with some comments about this being a "new age" and maybe a new look far as colors goes...but there's nothing original about the costumes, they lack personality they are derivitives of the comic book so to speak, not sexy enough! minus the top she may lose if too much movement is required. Bring back the "blue panties" and keep the red boots!

Look.. if it's not like the classic comics version of her it's not right.

The new one is ridiculous looking. I personally was a huge fan of the Linda Carter version - heck... as a 5 year old I knew I was going to marry her one day... =) but there are elements of that costume which were a bit too cheesy too.

Which comes back to my original statement.... when in doubt, go to the origins which in this case is the comic books. She wouldn't have been around so long if what's in the comic books didn't work so well.

I like the blue boots, but the heels are absurd; go with the red. Keep the shiny blue pants & lose the stars. Keep the top from the first outfit - she looks like she's about to lose it in the second version.

The problem with the wonder woman costume is not so much the look... The fact is Wonder Woman needs an update not only in the styling but in the colors. She needs to keep the blue , gold and red but it needs to be a darker more gothic type outfit ...maybe black with the blue, red and gold accents.. The costumes themselves are nice but she needs a make over for a new generation and not so comic booky! She does not appeal to this generations darker side!!

It would be a lot easier to compare the 2 if both were either photo shopped as the shiny blue pants one or natural as the updated one. Or did her arms just all of a sudden get bigger because of the updated outfit? I think not.

I hate both looks let me explain! Wonder Womans iconic costume was just that and i understand the need to revamp things make them more modern but how can you do something to something that has been around for as long as it has! I watched Wonder Woman in re runs on tv and being a little gay boy the most impressive thing about her was her look to me. Network sensors worried about how she is gonna look in the old Wonder Woman garb? There is a comment made her about how she looks average not sexy at all i think this costume is excentuating her averageness!

I grew up to Linda, and she had the sexy body. This girl does not look hot at all, she looks like an average nobody. Plus Linda had the shorts with her butt cheeks hanging out.

The cartoon version (Justice League) has it best. Lynda Carter's Wonder Woman was an A- (but she is an A+ and will always corner the Wonder Woman "look").

    Pants? That's just WRONG.

I like the shiny boots and the shiny top. To make it right though, you need the shorts also and please make sure they are shiny also. Leather or pleather would be nice. Also the boots must be red.

Honestly the updated look was refreshing. She had stars down the side of her pants (which many people were complaining about to begin with). I liked the shiny light blue pants that went down to her boots. I'd say it shows a more active outfit for perhaps a more aggressive fighting style. The "heel" on her blue boots are not stilettos. They are like what 2"? You can fight and run and do all kinds of things with that sized heel. The newer version with the navy knit pants and military stripe down the side is just that - Screaming military. The shiny top with the matte bottom just doesn't run correctly with the outfits flow. The red boots are practically the same as the blue just 2" shorter. Now she looks like a Japanese Sailor Moon character. Heck - she has a tiara as well.

If they want this show to be a winner, they have to go with the shorts!

Its maybe a 5 out of 10, but thats a BIG maybe! Costume should be rethought, and the actress should be recast! Shes a great actress, not bad on the eyes..... just not right for the Amazon Princess!!! Costumewise I would like to see the eagle on the chest changed to form around the breasts more, and no split joints on the wings! In my oppinon the headpiece should be alittle bigger, and rounded aswell as the belt! I think a sort of a modified daisy duke" with white stars in the front, sides and back would be great. The red star on the chest and belt, would look better on the bracelets. The gold point inbetween the wings on the boots should be removed, aswell as the wings on the belt. I do have to say that I like the shiny red corset, red boots, and the shiny blue! ........Just my thoughts!

I like the costume much better~ however~ the actress is still a problem for me~ she just doesn't work for me. I know she's supposed to be tough and all~ but there's not much femininity to her.....

  • Jim Karlseberg - 13 years ago

No, the costume is still really bad. Honestly losing the pants is going to turn this whole thing around.

  • Hackete - 13 years ago

White stars (no gold stars on the flag) get rid of pants back to shorts.

  • Chynna - 13 years ago

Why can't they just have Lululemon or Lucy design her a suit...I mean does she really have to look like the comic strip to the ninth degree? Kind of corny...update her!

  • James - 13 years ago

Wonder Woman is supposed to be "in her satin tights" as she is "fighting for her rights."

  • Kev - 13 years ago

Looks like the top portion was altered....more breast showing.....but its much better with red boots. I loved the original series and when the first episode aired....was a fan ever since.
Must at least see a finished version before you can say yay or nay.....they can change the outfit and since when does a lady only wear the same outfit time and time again....just saying!

I know nothing about the actress, having never watched her previous show. But the costume is all wrong. They need to go back to the original design. For that matter, so does the comic book, which changed that iconic costume awhile back into something very similar to this. I've yet to talk to a single fan who likes that new costume. Speaking as a nearly-50 who still has a number of the comic books I read as a kid out in my garage, I have to ask: Why do people have to keep changing things? First Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale give us a Batman who's as screwy as his villains, now this. And I'm not holding a lot of hope at this point for the new Superman movie that's in the works, either. I've been a fan of some of David Kelley's previous shows (in particular "Picket Fences" and "Chicago Hope"), but based on everything I've seen, heard and read so far I'll be taking a pass on this.

  • Ben Lear - 13 years ago

I would only watch this show if she had the original shiny blue pants. It would be something to look forward to. The changed costume looks like a cowgirl outfit, and it is totaly wrong for todays woman.

  • Eric - 13 years ago

The costume is ok, its the actress they choose to play WW that is the problem. She was great in a couple of the shows I have seen her in but she plays the ruff around the edges tom boy roles, that is not WW. She doesn't look like WW to me.
