"I saw $4.09 yesteday at Kroger's/Shell in Allen yesterday on McDermott"

    For premium maybe...

It was $3.79 for regular at that Kroger yesterday (and today). I live nearby there. Even the usually-high-priced Shell stations in Allen are at $3.7x right now.

Everyone's favorite president, Mr. Obammy, shut down off shore drilling after the Deep Water Horizon debacle. A major driller in the Gulf was George Caros(?), a major democratic party contributor, left wing BILLIONAIRE! Those aren't supposed to exist, right? Well, Mr. Caros pulled his rigs and went to guess where? BRAZIL. Followed close behind by Obammy with his family in-tow. Obammy promised the Brazilian gubmint that we would give them the technology to extract the oil and then become their customer. With that clown making moves such as that, no amount of driving habit alteration can compete with that line of thinking. COME ON 2012!!

I'm so mad about gas prices (and also not happy that I never make time for exercise) that I pledged 15 days ago to replace one unnecessary car trip each day with walking, biking, or taking DART. I'm blogging about it locally at the Dallas Morning News' Neighborsgo site, http://www.neighborsgo.com/index.php?page_id=1000&site_page_id=302&sblog_id=1083. I could do better on living up to my pledge, but it's definitely hard, especially when one of your kids is a busy teenage girl who doesn't drive yet. I am proud of the fact that I took DART all the way from Richardson to Las Colinas one day to meet a friend for breakfast (when in the past, I would have driven) and have done more biking and walking around town to run errands-- but it's sad that when I do, I encounter no one else doing the same (and hardly any bike racks anywhere). You really can live in a suburb and get around by biking and walking, it just takes a little planning and a willingness to take more time to get places. But driving to the gym and working out takes time, too, and this is a lot more fun. At least until the weather gets unbearable. C'mon suburbanites, let's park our cars and get off our duffs!

Its tough, sure, but what better way to spur capital investment and interest in alternative fuels? We had that 3 years ago and $2.nn gas killed it (OPEC plan??). Its back, and it should be no surprise.

I also support Texas raising the $.20/gallon tax to 20% instead.

And here's another idea; open up HOV lanes to MPG rated vehicles of >40 mpg.

Most people who complain about this don't make sacrifices to curb their driving, ergo, the demand is still there and the prices stay high. How many of those with a beef about the oil companies take public transportation when they can? How many pack lunch and eat at work, rather than driving out to pick up something? How many drive fuel-efficient cars, carpool, etc.? How many really ratchet down their usage to send a message to big oil? I'd bet good money no more than 5%.

I live out in NE TX in Bogata...Red River County. Today while out, I saw $3.79 in two small towns going towards, Bogata and Deport, but on my way home after 5:00PM, those same stations were $3.84. This price is for regular unleaded and both stations were Shell stations.

When the government keeps creating hardship on anyone that wants to drill here in America we can expect the price to go as high as the regimn in DC wants it to go. There are reserves in America there is just no new drilling anywhere, unless you are in Brazil or south America ( see American Import/Export Bank). Now when the government makes four times the amount in taxes from the oil companies than the oil companies make in profit.....I believe our governments greed trumps the oil companies greed. I have to think the oil companies would like gas to be around $2.00 per gallon so we could all drive real cars again and "fill em up" regularly, just sayin'.

SPECULATORS AND THE GREED OF THE OIL COMPANY'S ARE GOING TO KEEP OIL GOING UP WITH ANY EXCUSE, VALID OR NOT, UNTIL THEY GET IT WHERE THEY WANT IT SOMEWHERE AROUND FIVE DOLLARS PER GAL.
