I plodded through the book because it was so highly touted, yet I never developed any true caring for the hero. Yes, the atrosities were horrible, but that is not why I hesitate to recommend the book. I sometimes felt like I was reading a book report, not a best seller. The absurdity of Zamperini forgiving his captor was beyond my comprehension. Couple that with the captor leading a pastoral life with a farm family after the war..... COME ON !!!!
