What should the NHL do about the Raffi Torres hit on Brent Seabrook?

True as it may be that back in the day hits like those two (just to use as examples) well they got you a pat on the back , a few perks , and hell probably Bonus Money. But a couple of things that we need to consider....1 times are changin' 2 if you've ever been on the wrong end of a hit like that...and more important then anything else ( I think at least) 3 are the refs gonna call these hits the same way for each and every player.....not each team each player...and I say it that way because there are times it seems some teams get a longer leash then others....Feel free to let me know what you think I'm @ Tonymaintenance58Calvi@gmail.com

The NHL should be ashamed of themselves

In past years, a hit like this would have been considered clean and legal, but with the addition of new rules, this is completely illegal as it was a hit delivered to the head, from the blind side of the player. Coupled with the fact that this was the first game back from a 4 game suspension, he deserves at least 5 to 6 games. The fact that the NHL refuses to actually have the same style of penalty and/or suspension consistently is pathetic. All the NHL is doing ot put lipservice to the issue of blindside hits.

Torres had never had a suspension prior to his hit on Eberle and he got what essentially was six games (playoff games are considered twice regular season games) which I thought was excessive considering that Getslaf didn't even get a penalty for his hit on Hamhuis and he left his feet and used his elbow. Repeat offenders Heatly and Marchand got 2 games each for their infractions and Bertuzzi and Abdelkader didn't get anything for their elbows. So if the league were impartial in their dealing out suspensions then all of these fellows should have been suspended the same number of games as Torres. But the league is not consistent and that is the real problem here. The bigger questions is why is the league so reticent to deal with head shots and why the inconsistency ???????

From the angle shown you can not see whether he lifted his elbow or anything. So with that being said it looks like a clean hit as Seabrook left his head down.

I thought the NHL was ridding themselves of these goons!
