Although a very nice advertisement for Verve, I'm not surprised by the total omission of the Santa Cruz Coffee Roasting Company as a pioneer in individually brewed coffee on a commercial scale. They've been serving deliscious, strong Brew-Bar© coffees downtown for over thirty years, yet it's so easy to overlook history and focus on the "bright shiny object" that is Verve. With the explosion of focus on brewed coffee nationally, the SCCRC should be recognized for going first where the rest of us just follow. The Sentinel HAS been in town a few years, no?
Great artical but it would be nice to also acknowledge the fact that many of the coffee houses are offering something very special to the community, and yes there is bad coffee out there but more often than not there is a lot of very dedicated baristas and coffee roasters in our community who are up before the roosters to prepare that coffee for you and are doing a great job. We are very fortunate, in our community to have so many choices.
