a screw gauge is an instrument nearly invented in 1612 to measure accurately the diameter of thin wires or the thickness of a sheet of metal

    answer is c

The Vernier calipers gives a more accurate determination of small lengths, it's the device that measures the internal and external diameter of a tube Not the Screw gauge, so I don't theoretically agree with A. The screw gauge measures the thickness of a piece of paper and also diameter of mostly small object. So if it can measure the diameter of a tin wire then the radius of the tin wire will not be a problem to achieve by the simple formula r=Diameter/2.
by reasoning the answer is C.
Although the micrometer screw gauge can not directly measure the radius of a tin wire.

screw cant measure inner diameter directly so your guess is wrong bharathwaj. for measuring d inner diameter we have to calculate the outer diameter by screw guage then using vernier calliper we can measure the thickness of test tube then only we can get the inner diameter!!!!!so its more easy to get the radius of test tube just by dividing the diameter by 2.

micrometre screw gauge is used to measure radius of wires

  • Rishav Kumar - 4 years ago

Screw gauge is used to measure very small length so it is used to measure the diameter of thin too.

it is used to measure the diameter of thin wire.

it is used to measure the dimensions of a very small objects, and so it is used to measure the radius of a thin wire.

as far as i'm concerned screw gauge is used to measure small lengths......we can measure diameter of thin wires .......but not radius....to find the radius of screw gauge...some mathematical calculations are required ....first find diameter and next diameter/2 gives u radius......but we cannot directly measure radius using screw gauge !!!!

it is used to measure diameter,we can also use this to measure radious because radious is half of diameter of any object.

  • grace - 5 years ago

why is that the answer because it ought to be diameter of a thin wire

  • rohan bansal - 6 years ago

But mainly it is used for measuring diameter of thin wires and radius= diameter/2. For measuring depth of tubes vernier calliper is used.

  • bharathwaj - 6 years ago

out of the 4 options 2 are possible-radius of a thin wire and the inner diameter of a test tube.however having to answer one of the two i chose the inner diameter of the test tube because while measuring a thin wire one can obtain only the diameter not the radius.....
