@ Geoff Love, That is the beauty of a well executed QR code. Where it takes you or what it gives you is what make you even want to scan it in the first place. Having a reputation of good content is also important for QR codes to work. It is possible to use the code to resolve to any location of your choice. That takes a bit more wizardry in the set up but is is all possible.

@ Anthony Scarborough, Good points about the font sizing on the final sized logo. As long as the contrast and resolution of the QR code are good they can be printed quite small and still scan.

Combining the Nottingham Logo with the QR code hits the nail on the head for me.

Binary feels old hat to sum up digital nowadays, talking of old hats, I agree with the Errol Flynn comment regarding the logo with Robin Hood. The other logo looks clean and simple but has no pop to it to make it stand out.

Like the QR logo - could it be made to look even more like one though (e.g. white square with 'N' formed out of the barcode) and made to actually work - taking anyone who scanned it to the website?

Although by its very essence this is to be – predominately - a ‘digital’ logo, all media should be considered with any brand development exercise.

The word type on the QR code and Robin Hood icon variants are already too small and boarding on eligible. Imagine the size of the actual logo (symbol) if the entire brand was enlarged to ensure the word type is comfortably readable on either a website or business card.

In turn the binary logo type has similar issues, albeit reversed.

This only leaves one option… in my opinion.

    Good luck! :0)

It is a good point to think about how far we want the nottdc identity to reach. The robin hood emblem while cliched to those bombarded by local symbolism we have to bare in mind we are trying to ignite locale innovation and collectivism via digital. I like the QR code but the final code should be set up so we can control the content/url over time with the QR remains the same. This way when the code is scanned it will return the most relevant information at the time. The next event or a competition/promotional code, the options are endless.

I love the little dude with the Robin Hood hat. Says Nottingham more to me (as an outsider) than an N. ( :

I do think that Nottingham should make more of Robin Hood but that it is not really necessary for this community group. I voted for logo 2 as I think it will be easy to recognise and has a clear link to digital.

Logo 3 says "Nottingham" to me in a quickly identifiable graphic that should recognisable in many sizes and situations. ( but then I am not from Notts, so maybe typecasting is not PC :)

Those QR codes are nice but please do note that this QR code is ALREADY in the shape on the letter N... So it has been designed it's not just an off the peg QR.

I really like the QR code, and think it will have plenty of practical applications too. I wonder whether we could do something like this with it? http://mashable.com/2011/04/18/qr-code-design-tips/

I really like the binary logo as well as the QR code. I don't see why we couldn't use both in the appropriate setting?

Whilst I do like the little Robin Hood logo I do think that Nottingham doesn't really have any more room for logo's wearing Errol Flynn hats with feathers in them.
