Should Major League Baseball seize the Dodgers?

Any true Dodger fan knew that Fox's Rupert Murdoch selling to F.McCourt was a huge folly, that McCourt was underfunded and was being allowed to demonstrate his ability to orchestrate the ridiculous in financing schemes. Fox assisted, and so did Bud Selig and MLB by allowing the sale to take place at all. As much as I disliked Fox, I suspected that we were about to experience worse. We did.
That Selig has had the guts to step up and act as he has to this point has to be applauded, considering that he was in large part responsible for letting the sale happen in the first place. There had to be other offers out there....Fox knew that they had a puppet in place for them to manipulate as they wished with any tv deal they could wring out of the PARKING LOT ATTENDANT!

  • Kat - 13 years ago

Yes, yes please yes!!! And please hurry up Mr. Selig!

  • T Stone - 13 years ago

When McCourt went on the radio and talked with fans the guy who said he was a die hard fan but wouldn't go to another game till the team was sold had it right. Please sell the team so that we can get over this turmoil!

Since this bankruptcy thing could take a long time and the judge gets to decide, maybe the fans of LA should send a clear signal that they want new owners by holding a protest rally or having a vote to show the judge that it isn't just MLB that wants Franky out!!! While low attendance shows lack of support for the current owner, it could also be misinterpreted as bad performance on the field.

I am just sooo sick up and fed with this whole sorry mess and what's worse is that I don't see an ending to it anytime soon. Rather than doing the right thing and letting go of the Dodgers, Frank and Jamie would rather drag the club and all of its fans through the muck of a seemingly endless legal fight in order to try and save their lavish lifestyle. Dodger fans who support the team in more ways than one deserve better. Baseball deserves better. I will always be a Dodger fan come hell or high water but I will NOT go to Dodger Stadium until Frank and Jamie are gone. I've had enough.

  • Rich Shelly - 13 years ago

Let it go Frank. None of us true fans are going to show up at the ballpark until you are gone. You have ruined an iconic franchise, and it could take 4 or 5 years to repair the damage you have created. PLEASE go away. You can't win this one Frank.
    Sincerely,
    A 'stay home' fan.......

Is McCourt's strategy to make the Dodgers so debt ridden that no one will want to buy them? And more importantly, does he really think if he muddles thru all of this and retains control of the team, Los Angeles and Dodger fans everywhere will somehow forgive him and support him? I cannot fathom any reason other than trying to save his financial skin that McCourt continues to battle - it has to be obvious that fans will never support this team while he is the owner. I hope the boycott reaches the point where no one, and I mean no one, shows up for a home game. Break the all time low attendance mark for a game at Chavez Ravine, and imagine the national attention this will get. In the meantime, envision the Dodger bullpen and overall lineup if the $100 mil Frank squandered on himself and others had been used to develop and purchase solid players.

Boycott Boycott Boycott all & everything Dodgers; games, TV, radio, advertisers. I'm done ( a fan since I got a Wally Moon Home Run at the Coliseum at 8 yrs. old ) I'm done until this idiot is OUTTA HERE Send a email to the BK court. If the Judge gets a million of them he will see the picture. Who has that email address? Post It. Moon Shot.

As a Giants fan, I have drawn more than a little amusement and at times outright laughter at this convoluted, B grade soap opera that the Dodgers and their enlightened management have engaged in for the last year and a half. But I have to admit, the Dodgers are a necessary and valuable component of Major League Baseball itself. I find it hard to believe that an owner who has debased himself, his family, and the team he owns can be taken seriously any longer. My biggest concern is that under Selig's leadership, MLB will exhibit the deft hand it did heading off the MLB PED tragedy in the 1990s. So heres to better times when we can beat you and not feel like we're kicking a dead cat.

  • Jeff - 13 years ago

Bud Selig got us into this mess - he needs to get us out!!! McCourt was never a qualified buyer but Selig didn't have the balls to say "no" to FOX at the time. It's time to rectify the mistake & save the Dodgers!!!

  • ron wheland - 13 years ago

The Dodgers should be stripped of their league status. The team, all its players, and all its thug fans are not worthy of membership in the elite fraternity that is Major League Baseball.

  • rodney - 13 years ago

  • daveinla - 13 years ago

The McCourts have raped the organization for their own personal lavish lifestyle. While Frank gets the bulk of the blame now because he is the one at Chavez Ravine, Jamie and her shopaholic tendencies are just as much to blame. (Me thinks buying all those mansions was more her idea than his--particularly since she initially wanted them under her name in case the Dodgers went belly-up.) They got sucked into the Hollywood flash-your-wealth lifestyle and Dodger fans are paying the price.

  • joe czajkowski - 13 years ago

the quicker they sell the team the better. i have been a season ticket holder since 1983, at first i excepted the mccourts, but once they started to raise the price of my season tickets and to find out for their own personal use, the day can't come soon enough that frank is gone. i actually hate that liar.

  • mrboma - 13 years ago

MLB doesn't necessarily need to seize the team, they just need to force a sale.

  • Guillermo - 13 years ago

Embarrasment is to say the least! As a proud longtime Dodger fan I can't stand watching a game or even attend a Dodger game! Why?? Answer: Frank McCourt
    Commissioner help!!!!

  • palomino - 13 years ago

The No's is just McCourt going from library to library using their computers and voting!!!

  • Casey - 13 years ago

yes i think they need to strip the team from mccourt and he is shady.and steve ur an idiot for supporting mccourt.he is just gonna make the team worse and they will be in the gutter if he continues as owner of the dodgers.the guy has to borrow money meet payrolls.and there going to lose players like kemp, either and kershaw when they become free agents.so mccourt take a ur rear end back to boston parking lot and give it up.u are toast!

  • David - 13 years ago

I just left a message for The Honorable Kevin Gross at 302-252-2913.

  • M. PERUMEAN - 13 years ago

YOU CALIF PEOPLE ARE CRAZY;(I HAVE BEEN A DODGER FAN BEGINNING IN 1962)
    SELIG IS NO FRIEND OF LOS ANGELES; HE IS AN EAST COAST GUY; DONT LET HIM TOUCH THE FRANCHISE; HE WILL HURT THE TEAM FOR 10 YEARS; TELL HIM TO GO TO HELL;BESIDES HE HAS EARLY ONSET ALZHEIMERS;

  • MG - 13 years ago

I will never go to another Dodger game or watch another game on TV, as long as McGreedy and his family maintains control of the team. If the keeps the team, I will change my allegiance to the GIANTS. He is a joke and an embarrassment to this once proud and great organization. Message to this and all other prospective owners. This is LA. You need us, we don't.

  • John - 13 years ago

Congrats Frank McCourt you have pushed this fan to stop watching the team he grew up watching and idolizing.

  • DARTH AL - 13 years ago

Dear MLB: when the dodgers become a past tense in Elysian Park ,LA could use the stadium as a museum and partner up with the observatory and the zoo, maybe by then those awful so-called fans will stop visiting and forget how good it was to go to Chavez Ravine and enjoy a baseball game, thanks.

  • F. U. McCourtroom - 13 years ago

    Dear Frank McCourtroom,

I will NEVER forgive you for what you have done to my Dodgers!

Rot in HELL you selfish, arrogant & greedy little turd :)

    Sincerely,

    Dodger fans everywhere

p.s. Stop using the name Dodgers where your name should be...this is all YOUR mess!

  • ron lock - 13 years ago

Bud should immediately sieze controll of the Dodgers and put them up for sell. The clauses in the contract McBroke signed and agreed too, allows MLB to take over his team and put them up for sell. (aka Bankrupt ). Dodgers fans are sick and tired of watching this clown in action. The way he conducts business is typical of a land developer. Everyone else does the work and he dosen"t pay them. Of course there may be a few developers out there that don"t conduct business this way but very few. The Dodgers are now the laughing stock of the leauge. Allowing every weak team ( including the Giants ) to kick there butts night in and night out. Im sorry but this has gone on long enough, come on Bud show us fans just how much pwer you have. WE ALL WANT TO SEE IT !!!!!

  • Vic - 13 years ago

Frank McCourt has proven over the past years that he's interesting in owning the Dodgers as long as the franchise continues to provide opportunities to line his pockets. When money got tight, he immediately ceased to invest in the team. Major League Baseball should act in the best interests of Dodger fans everywhere, cite the many clauses in the league's bylaws and constitution that McCourt has violated, and seize this team, take over its operation as soon as possible, and get searching for a new owner who will truly seek to restore the Dodgers to their rightful place among America's most storied sports franchises. But, this time, all prospective owners should be able to carry the mail, financially, or they should be handed their hats and sent on their way. Now hocus-pocus purchase agreements or financing plans.

  • DARTH AL - 13 years ago

Dear MLB: save the team and return to sender, thanks.

  • rd - 13 years ago

  • J. Sanchez - 13 years ago

    Smelly people, east la mentality?
Sounds like you are using any old excuse to get racist!
It's because of people like you this country is into settling problems
with violence, so when you say "east la mentality" you really should say "hater mentality".
Something you and your ilk started and perpetuate everywhere...east la included!
You must really be somekind of idiot to state otherwise.

  • Doug Persson - 13 years ago

This is one of the most disgusting events to ever take place in Baseball. Get McCourt out before he totally destroys this franchise.

  • Steve - 13 years ago

Boycott Dodger Stadium until the McCourts are GONE!

  • Bob - 13 years ago

Let them sink, no bail-outs. Some other person can then buy the rights to the dodgers name and put the teamin a market that will appreciate having a major league team.

  • Rob McMillin - 13 years ago

How did Frank get more than a hundred people to vote "No"?

  • Jess - 13 years ago

Who the heck is voting NO!!!

  • Palomino - 13 years ago

Stay off the poll Giant fans!!!!

  • Oklahomabarry - 13 years ago

The Dodgers are special to the game of baseball. They are one of a very few iconic teams who personify the major leagues. Of course, MLB ought to stand ready to assure baseball fans the Dodgers will continue to be viable, even if that means seizing the team.

  • Jeff Hennessy - 13 years ago

    Mr McCourt,

Go away....you are a classic example of GREED run amok. My name is Frankie this is how I roll, my rolodex is filled with attorneys and I will be happy to bankrupt a once proud franchise. Go away....buy a tent trailer and set it up in one of your Boston parking lots. I am sure FAUX will give you a good break on the parking space. Go away!!!

  • Al Black - 13 years ago

It is bad enough that professional sports teams are owned by spoiled billionaires who act like the team is their little toy do with as they please, it is even worse when a team is owned by a spoiled bankrupt former billionaire who can't believe that his toys can be repossessed.

  • Dave - 13 years ago

The Honorable Kevin Gross whom is responsible for the BK proceedings in Delaware can be contacted at 302-252-2913.

Please Dodger fans give him a call and plead your case to him on how much we despise the McCourts and their total disreagrd for the Dodgers and their fans...

    It could only help......

  • Steve - 13 years ago

Everybody is blaming Frank -- hey, wake-up. It was the wife that purchased all those homes when she was CEO and also the one sleeping around. How about putting some of this blame on her and not Frank. Jamie spearheaded this media scene to make Frank look bad. PLEASE WAKE-UP people and have some compassion for the guy who is trying to save the Dodgers and allow her to cash in on all this revenue he would supposedly get from the FOX deal.

  • JMO - 13 years ago

The Dodgers need a facelift, new ownership, new strategy for fans. All they have now is gang bangers and trailer trash. Attendance is down because no one wants to be subjected to the east LA mentality of drunks and foul language, fights, smelly people. No way can you take a family there like the old days and enjoy a game. Anaheim or San Diego are my venues now, you don't need to be armed at those games.

  • Tom - 13 years ago

If Frank McCourt retains control of the Dodgers, as soon as the smoke clears he will be back to his old ways using the Dodgers as a personal ATM machine! This is about greed and ego.

  • shawn - 13 years ago

Mccourt needs to sell please bud the Jerry rinsdourf that u don't care if u don't like mark cuban let Cuban buy the dodgers dodger fans need to boycott games by not showing up at all start up patishions saying Frank must go get 500,000 to 1million +

  • Nathan Pratt - 13 years ago

I disagree with you Cornell - the FOX deal is a horrible deal for baseball in general, written up in Frank's time of need, robbing the 2014 club to pay 2011's debts. Mr. McCourt cannot "get himself out of this mess" because he is toxic to the media and the fans; goodwill will not return until he is gone. If you approve the deal, you condemn the Dodgers to years of declining attendance and TV ratings.

  • joe - 13 years ago

Dodgers look lik e an episode of the The Sopranos.

  • Joe - 13 years ago

Walter O'Malley is spinning in his grave. Seeing what the McCourt's have done to his franchise and his fans. Baseball should be ashamed to let a prize organization like this fall so badly. Not able to make payroll? Give me a break. Where is all the money going?

  • Cornell Davis - 13 years ago

Both MLB and Frank McCount are responsible for this mess. Baseball should have kept an eye on this from the beginning. I don't know if baseball audits all of it's teams every year or not, but if there don't, their need to start. The McCourt's did go overboard, by buying all of those houses and the lutury spending, but if the commissoner had kept an eye on them, this probably would have never happened. There each share equal responsible in this mess. The commissoner needs to approve the fox deal and let Mr. McCount get himself out of ths mess. Everybody deserves a second chance, but baseball needs to keep a better eye on these teams. The commissoner is paid to oversee these teams and he needs to start doing his job. First the Mets, now the Dodgers, what team is next?

  • David - 13 years ago

they dont evidence about fans not happy....Ill give (and sure alot of people will) notarized statement about how much we WANT FRANK OUT!!! .......where do I send it?

  • Mark - 13 years ago

Get this carpetbagging piece of _ _ _ _ out of baseball.

  • Gary - 13 years ago
