I think the Alexander Twins(Marky and Carky) should be considered - Great All Around Athletes in Basketball, Track, Football and were good Baseball players many people don't remember this about them. They were also gifted musicians.

Don't forget Dode Lesser..All sorts of city/state honors at Seaman, and, conference.all american honors at Washburn, and, several years of pro football. Remember Jim Golden? I'm sure he was from Topeka & pitched with the Dodgers on the same staff with Sandy Kofax & Don Drysdale. Good job so far! Bob

A few weeks ago the paper provided a very long list of deserving athletes. These have been whittled down from that list. There are a lot of great athletes but if they listed them all then someone could conceivably win with 5 votes. The paper did do their job right.

Although, with all due respect , there are many locally beloved athletes here, how can you not see that obviously, Mike Torrez is the biggest thing to come out of the US in his day! Talented, handsome, and a nice person--that's my vote! Love you, Mex!

I undertand this is a big undertaking, but by lisiting a few select names many deserving candidates will not get proper consideration. There are many, many individuals from before the 1950's that need to be mentioned for consideration. The list should be divided by gender and posible by sport and era...apples to apples, oranges to oranges. As my dad always told me...if you are going to do a job...do it right! Thanks for allowing me to expres my thoughts.

Here you got a kid that didn't have too many good breaks in his sports career and had to prove himself every step of the way to show how good he was and is. Hard work and putting everything you have out there everytime you are on the field means something in what you are made of. Using his faith and God given ability to achieve what he has and will do is something very special, and not easily found in sports today.
