Who is a better fit for 'CSI'?

I like Ted Danson the best out of all the CSI managers. Give him a chance. Besides the quirky, dark humor inherent in the show itself, Ted brings his own style of humor, which I find compliments the show and other actors quite well. And he is quite different from Grissom and Fishburn, as he should be. People get hooked on things being a certain way, but forget that artists are a quirky lot, and can change and go in different directions. They don't care what you think, really, they do what they want to do.

Grissom of course was the leader and trendsetter, and rigid people will always compare whomever to him, and that person will always fall short, whoever he or she is. Fishburn I thought was a shocker to me. I agreee with the Matrix parallel. That was such as strong, defining role, that it was hard to see him as anyone besides Morpheus. Maybe he thought so to0, and then left CSI for other projects.

Now that I've seen a whole season with Ted Danson, I have really warmed up to him in the role. He is not as scientific as Grissom, but exhibits a more interesting thought process and creative thinking, less pendantic, and more in the Sherlock Holmes style of investigation, with sudden bursts of insight that lead the team off to investigate new leads.

I also approve of the more personal child-parent entanglements that have come on board this season with Eckersley's daughter and Danson's son in the mix. Gives the show a different perpective that I think resonates quite well with the audience. The Baby Boomers have tons of adult children out there now that have careers of their own, past their adolescent parental rejection stage. A new relationship dynamic develops. Throw in the grandchildren, and you have the setup for a 3 generation drama. I am very much looking forward to next year so see how it all works out.

Hey I miss grissom also , I watch the show all the time , I prefer ted Danson over Laurence Fishburne any day. Ted Danson is pretty good in the role I enjoy his humor in the show, Haskle thing was nuts , Give ted Danson a chance I think he is doing a good job in this role , you have to get past his past roles and see him in just this one. He does add a new flavour to the role and welcomed change from the haskle issue.

Grissom was always the heart of the show, and the team relationship, and the science. When he left it was not the same show. Period.

I don't know what they were thinking bringing in Danson. I thought when they brought Fishburne in, the show would be interesting because he is such an intense actor. But all I could think about when I saw him was Morpheus from Matrix. So I'm sure with Danson, whom I watched play Sam on Cheers for so many years (then other comedies)... all I will think of is Sam. That's a lot worse than Morpheus. How can you take the show seriously anymore?
What they needed to do is bring a lesser known serious dramatic actor who we won't connect to another character. Someone who we will believe is a CSI.
I also agree w/ Cobra, the plot was all Haskell last season & after all these years, I stopped watching. It used to be my favorite show!!!
I will watch the show tonight just to see what they did with it, but I doubt I can go back to it. Producers and writers made pretty bad judgement calls going for big names instead of believability.

I always found Grissom to be an arrogant and pompous prick. Next came Fishburne and it was like he was trying to play Morpheus from "The Matrix" all the time. Now you get the loudmouth lunatic commonly known as Ted Danson. CBS please get someone with acting skill.

I knew that Grissom was irreplaceable, so I did not set myself up for disappointment when he left. I even used to like Dr. Ray, but along came Nate Haskell and the show began to spoil. Eventually, CSI became the Nate Haskell Show, all Nate, all the time, and I hated Nate Haskell, Dr. Ray and the show itself. I turned it off when Nate came back YET AGAIN! I never found out what happened except that that Nate Haskell is dead! Dead! DEAD! Finally! But it may be too late for the show; I think it may already have jumped the shark. I'll watch it with Ted Danson and see how it turns out, but I'm skeptical.

I hate to see Laurence Fishburne go and to think they would bring an nut case likeTed Danson
is beyond me. I have watch this show the day it came on and I still miss Grissom but Fishburne played the part very well. I will not be watching CSI if they bring in Danson and if they do the show will go down the tubes. Sad to see it go.

Just saw the two-minute clip with Danson in the new season. I thought it was quite moving. I will now go back to watching CSI after years of disinterest.

Bringing on Ted Danson does it for me. I'm gone! That's a shame because I really liked the original flagship of the CSI franchise (i.e. CSI: Las Vegas), even with Grissom gone. But hiring that lunatic Danson will send me to video rentals on Thursday nights!
