Jerry started hosted shows on local channels in NYC on behalf of MDA in 1952. At the time nobody knew anything about Muscular Dystrophy. Jerry basically started this organization which did not even exist prior to his bringing people's attention to it. 60 years of his life dedicated to this organization he created, and they treated his like dirt in the end. The executives line their pockets with the donations, and have taken away more and more from the people who actually need the funds. I will no longer watch, nor give them one penny. They say times are changing and they want younger audiences, well think about this>>>>>who has the money to donate??? Good luck trying to get money from the younger generation, people who are struggling to even find jobs in this economy.

What you all must remember is that without Jerry Lewis the Muscular Dystrophy Association as we know it today would not exist. In 1950 Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin were approached by Jerry's friend and Muscular Dystrophy victim Paul Cohen a businessman who had an idea to create an organization to help raise money for research to find a cure for Muscular Dystrophy. From this the organization grew over more than fifty years. The people who are running MDA now should get down on their knees in humble appreciation to Jerry Lewis and return him to the post where he belongs as national chairman of the MDA.
What they did to him was a crime.

i am 58 years old i have seen more telethons of jerry lewis than i can count but is is disgusting the new mda big shot the new kid gives a damn for saving money than the kids and jerry lewis he was and will always be in heart m d a no body i mean nobody can do or will do what jerry did this r rodney howell guy just shot himself in the foot big time i watch it did not care at all for it everything is lost everything jerry lewis in my book your the king will always be the king this howell guy u should not sleep at night truly sad veru sad there will be no more after this one i know it they got to save moneu u dont find cures when u save money

I have never been totally disgusted with the changing of the times or in this case, the changing of the guard.
Jerry Lewis, the actor, the comedian, the director, the Broadway star, the Humanitarian – has been the voice of MDA in front of the camera and working tirelessly for the organization behind the scenes since 1966 — 45 years of working for a disease strikes at the bodies of children and adults alike.
I agree that the executives working for MDA today know nothing of what Jerry Lewis has accomplished for MDA. They know nothing of his 45 YEARS of being involved with an organization that went from an unknown little disease to a disease for which he and his peers have earned — more than 2 billion dollars. Nobody has done this much for any crusade.
Sadly, MDA has kicked Jerry Lewis to the curb. They IGNORED his efforts for the last 45 years. And that SUCKS — big time.
And what of Jerry Lewis? Is he simply to suck it up and forget everything he has accomplished? We should honor Jerry (and Ed McMahon and everyone associated with MDA since 1966) not turn our backs.
MDA could have done the gentlemanly thing by separating their association with Jerry Lewis. They could have honored him in a public forum, genuinely thanking him for his efforts and his love for Jerry’s kids, and introducing the new guard — a passing of the baton, so to speak.
What I would like to see is all of Jerry’s Kids, past and present, converge at MDA Headquarters, asking that Jerry be reinstalled as MDA Spokesman.
I am 62 years old and have been watching the JERRY LEWIS LABOR DAY TELETHON since 1966. I have contributed money because Jerry Lewis moved me with his caring.
I celebrate Jerry Lewis and I genuinely appreciate everything he has done for MDA and for Show Business alike.

FOR THE LAST 45 YEARS THE JERRY LEWIS TELETHON FOR THE MDA ORGANIZATION,THE ASSOCATION HAVE OUSTED JERRY..THIS MAN HAS MADE IT TRADITION TO ALL AMERICANS..I GREW UP WATCHING AND WHEN I GOT MARRIED ME AND RICKY HAS WATCHED EVERY YEAR...ALONG WITH OUR DAUGHTERS..THEN THEY GOT MARRIED AND THEIR HAVE WATCHED ALSO..I HAVE TWO GRANDSON..ONE IS A BABY NOT YET TWO...MY DAVID WATCHED SOMETIMES...THIS THE MOST DISGUSTING,SHAMEFUL,AND A DISGRACE!!! Telethon this Year i have been on the phone with Media and families
i hope this note gets to the Mda Association and also cutting 211/2 hours to 6 hours
