before everybody gives up on Pedro I'd challenge them to go back at look at Barry Bonds' stats his first 2 or 3 seasons. I'm not saying he is the next Barry Bonds but I am saying that he could turn this around and be a productive player.

Back in the early 1980's, Willie Stargell and Bill Madlock both had commented that generally speaking, players in the minor leagues don't spend enough time there, learning the game the way that players once did. It seems that as MLB has gone completely over the top from an economic standpoint, that teams are more hasty than ever to get their young talent up to the major leagues as quickly as they can. I fear that the Pirates may have done this with Pedro Alvarez. I felt that the best course of action was that the Pirates should have acquired a stop gap third basemen for the 2010 and 2011 seasons and leave Pedro in the minor leagues so that he could learn his craft effectively. Unfortunately, they did not do that and the genie is now out of the bottle. Pedro Alvarez has enormous potential. Time will tell whether or not he fully taps that potential or becomes another Jose Guillen. I think that the assertion put forth by Pops and Mad Dog nearly three decades ago is more true than ever with many players, Pedro Alvarez among them. I just hope for Pedro's sake, and for that of the Pirates as well, that his being rushed to the parent club does not result in irreparable damage to his career.

I hate when Gregg Brown and other people build up players such as Pedro Alvarez , and then have to eat there words. Other triple A players came up and really put 100 % in to what they do like fielding and hitting such as Harrison and Presley . They do great, but not Pedro. Sure you have off days , but not every day.
When he came up from tripe A last year it took him 30 games just to get a base hit. He should stay at triple A or get rid of him.

Pedro looks like a power hitter to me.
some players take time to get there adjustment to mlb pitching.
pedro does look slow at sometimes.
i just hope pedro turns this around for next year.
i just hope pittsburgh does not give up on him .
i hope they bring in hitting coach for him a power hitter.
    sometimes it just takes time.

Check it out. The current losing streak coincides with his return. Also check out the Pirates record with and without him. The answer will be obvious. I am tired of watching him take good pitches for strikes.

He looks very out of shape and appears to be very lazy. I read an interview recently where he stated that he does not exercise and prefers to watch baseball on TV and play video games to work on his hitting technique. The only time he runs is when its time to eat.
