Are you kidding me a casino in Reading.............Who the hell wants to come to Reading to gamble? I'm sure people who live outside the city would not come to Reading. And don't even worry about the people who live in the city, 99% of them don't work they count on us working taxpayers to support them and there brady bunch families. As far as my opinion goes no way should there be casinos in Reading!!!!

No, I definitely do not want a casino in Reading. The net effect would be woefully negative. Gambling promotes a get rich quick mind set and it is well documented that comparatively the poor spend the largest portion of their income on gambling, so it will hurt the poor. It also attracts crime and vice, something Reading already has enough of. And once gambling takes hold the answer to all Reading's problems will become ever so obvious, that is more and more gambling. I will admit that I am biased because I am a Christian and believe the Bible teaches against gambling and encourages a diligent work life as the means to self sufficiency. Yes, a casino will create jobs, but at what cost ?

i think that having a casino would be both good and bad.

Good because it will bring jobs, some type of revenue and people would want to come here. Reading is a growing city with many nice places to visit ie. the Imax, Soverign Center/ Performing arts center, Fisrt Energy Staduim ect. im sure people would like to go to a show and maybe after go to the casino.

Bad because where is Reading going to get the money for this? would people want to come here because of the crime rate. Also as having the highest poverity rate many people in this city are on some type of finical assistance ie Wellfare, Cash Assistance, Food Stamps ect. would those individuals be the ones to frequent the casino?

i can go on and on because i know there would be people with good intentions who would go to the casino with dreams of getting a "chicken dinner" with money that THEY EARNED! but what about folks who just sit back and collect a check yea their money is good at the casino but i'd be damned if i know i bust my behind at work and have to budget my money while someone who I HELPED (from my tax $$) gambeling money they didnt earn.

thats whats wrong with this city, i see it on a daily basis. people want to live beyond their means hard working people dont qualify for certain things bceasue they make to much but the person who doesnt work can have free money, food, cell phone, internet ect. and who foots the bill? the hard working citizens of this city and country.

there are really decent, hard working, law abiding citizens in this city and they raley get any reconigition for that, but people are quick to put the bad things about this city out there for the public view

    theres my 2 cents

I think a casino would create jobs and create revenue.
Reading needs more tourist attractions. A casino would also tell other businesses "hey we're doing it so why don't you"

The City of Reading needs a reason to bring $ into the city. Businesses, other than the casino, will also thrive. I'm glad to see more YES votes than NO votes.
